Buffalo Wild Wings fires employees involved in alleged racist incident at Naperville restaurant

Some employees of a Buffalo Wild Wings in Naperville have been fired for an alleged incident of racism against a group of black customers.

The customers said their group was asked to move because another customer did not want to sit by black people. The racist incident reportedly happened at the Buffalo Wild Wings on 75th Street, east of Route 59.

Back in October, a group of customers celebrating a birthday party said they were asked to move to another table because of their skin color. The customers said it started when a host approached them and asked about their ethnicity.

Once seated, Justin Vahl said the group of adults and kids were then asked to move tables because a customer sitting nearby said he did not want to sit near black people.

Vahl, of nearby Montgomery, said he's multiracial. His wife, Mary, first shared the story on social media. After several managers tried to move the group, they left for another restaurant and alerted upper management.

In a statement, a Buffalo Wild Wings spokesperson said the restaurant chain has zero-tolerance for discrimination.

The workers were allegedly fired for this which would lend credibility to the claim it happened.

Even so I have difficulty believing 'several managers tried to move the group'.

This is another news article that leave out critical details.

I keep asking myself, 'don't reporters have curiosity and common sense anymore?'

Reading this story, don't you have questions? Why don't the reporters?

If I were the reporter I would have lots of questions to ask of everyone. How do these people write these news stories without questioning everything?

Was it the color of the group, or their behavior?

I don’t know a single restaurant manager or restaurant chain that would ask a black family to move to another table because they are black. It did not happen the way the story describes it.

Sounds like BS to me. They were probably wild and raucous and asked to move for that reason.

Because asking questions would likely lead to answers that don’t involve racism. Such as they were asked to move because their behavior was a nuisance. Of course in this PC culture, that’s not something you should ask. You should always assume minorities are well behaved. Only white christian males need to be grilled.

“The customer who made the complaint is in contact with his legal team.”

They are going to have to sell a bunch of wings to raise the cash to settle that lawsuit.

What kind of moron goes to any restaurant with “wings” or “chicken” in its name and expects not to be seated amongst black people?

I tend to believe about 50% of this one.

Were they asked to move? Sounds like it.
Was it because they were non-white? Possibly.
Where are the videos from people’s phones? Seems to me that someone would have recorded the action for legal means or just to blast it on anti-social media.

Consider me unconvinced on this one. It could have happened, but the firings could just as easily be BWW overreacting to cover their corporate arses here.

a group of customers celebrating a birthday party said they were asked to move to another table because of their skin color.

This is pathetic, low-IQ journalism. Its also Chicago, home of Jussie Smollett and Michelle Obama, race-baiting King and Queen of the prom. We've seen this fake news and propaganda played out 1000 times.

Maybe the group "celebrating" was extremely loud, vulgar or annoying. Maybe no one in the restaurant wanted to sit near them. Maybe they were extremely thin-skinned and assumed it was their race.

Wonder if the real issue was that the other table was being too rowdy and people automatically assumed that somehow racism was the reason.

They don’t have questions and they don’t care about truth because they’re not journalists, they’re propagandists whom simply report narratives.

Agreed. We’ve seen so many race discrimination hoaxes that every time another hits the news, my default reaction is, as you say, “set-up.”

That’s what I was thinking. In this age of universal deceit, it’s almost to a point, that if it’s not on video, it didn’t happen.

There are lots of questions in this one.

Even if the first group complained about the second group why would management ask the second group to leave?

The story says 'several managers'. How many is 'several'? How many mangers made this call? Not one of them had the sense to see the racial implications of asking the black people to move?

IF the original complaint was made I believe most managers would offer to discretely move the first group and not the black group.

Either there is a great deal of blind ignorance and complete lack of current racial awareness of the managers or we're lacking information.
