I believe he and the Senate have been told to stand down for now to let the plan (whatever it is) to play out.

By who? The GOP Senate certainly didn’t stand down when they sunk Ratcliffe for DNI. It should be clear by now that POTUS has no control of the Senate. McConnell does what he wants when he wants.

“What is Lindsey Graham waiting for? Who is he protecting?”

Hmmmm... let me think ... I have no idea. [s]

Maybe Cindy is paying him a big chunk of money to STFU.
Maybe he is trying to protect the legacy of Juan. (What he did for love.)
Maybe he trying to protect his own dirty dealings with the dossier.

(But I have no ideas.)

I kinda think he may be waiting for the reports from the IG and AG/Durham investigations.

We already have some history with IG Horowitz, and I fear a repeat, despite the hysterical cries that it’s going to be ‘very damning’. There was plenty of good work and startling revelations in the earlier Horowitz report, but he pulled a ‘Comey’ and undermined the obvious by stating that, although there was a lot of suspicious political bias in the FBI investigation, it played no role in the ultimate conclusion. (Ridiculous!) Of course, libs & lefties everywhere ate that right up! I fear we’re going to have a repeat performance from Horowitz, in the finest Emily Litella ‘Never mind’ tradition...

I also think that Graham will punt on whatever result Bar/Durham brings, as well. If indictments and charges are brought, he’ll take a hands-off approach and say that the JD takes precedence. If they fail to take action, Lindsay will alibi that the superior investigative capabilities of the JD & grand juries failed to find sufficient evidence to act, so what could his little, old Senate committee do that would be any better?

I still have some hope, but not a lot...

What is Lindsey Graham waiting for?

He's keeping the powder dry for the trial in the senate. He's letting the democrats go forward with a sham, knowing the senate will never convict, and allowing the democrats to destroy their own party. In doing so, the republicans will take back the House, increase the Senate, and give four more years to Trump to nominate more conservative throughout the country and god knows how many more supreme court justices.

This might shock some people here on FR, but what you describe is exactly the way the U.S. Constitution intended our government to work.

Well I think this is a bit harsh, and a bit premature. Graham can do this at any time. Why do it now is the question?

To nip this House investigation in the bud? OK there is logic to that.

But how about you let the House take its best shot, and lose. The old “let your enemies make mistakes” adage and all. Then when the House thing falls apart, which it likely will, you return fire when you have the field to yourself? There is logic to that, too.

Worst case, if it looks like the House thing gains momentum, you do it then.

I think it’s likely Trump will be impeached no matter what. The evidence doesn’t exist, because if it did they would put it out there for all to see. So they do it in secret to leak just the innuendo they want. And then they draft “rules” that prevent the minority from introducing witnesses or testimony and even hampering their ability to ask questions, nor let the accused have representation.

This is all one big parlour trick which to use a poker analogy tells us that a) they are going to go all in impeach him regardless of due process, fairness or evidence and b) that they are bluffing.

So, nothing really imo the Senate can do but wait for the House to make its move. Then the Senate can acquit, and then the Senate and the POTUS can return fire. Anything they do now will just be perceived and reported on as squabbling. And the import of the information they have will be lost in the mix.

I could be wrong of course, we’ll see how it plays out. Been plenty disappointed by the GOP these last years. But to me it makes more sense for them to let the other side use up all their ammo, miss, and then return fire when they have their undivided attention.

True enough. And of course a Senate controlled by the same party as the President is free to reject the DNI pick of a POTUS under Deep State coupist assault. Given that we can put away any pretense that the current Senate is substantively supportive of President Trump.

"Even though Senate hearings would be open and would refute some of the democrat talking points, it would still give even more air time to impeachment, instead of the nation's business."

I haven't observed any notable or positively useful senate activity for years.

“IF he’s waiting for those reports then why doesn’t he say so?”

There are reasons for things, especially involving timing, that are not revealed.

You might be correct about Graham but there are plenty of moves that haven’t been made yet.

Probably The Turdle.

Party affiliations probably mean less today than they ever have in this country's history.

Donald Trump isn't a real Republican at all. That's one of the biggest reasons why some of us voted for him. He's the first major presidential candidate in my lifetime who ran a campaign that openly OPPOSED several of the key items in his own political party's national platform.

He's an independent/nationalist operating in a government that is dominated by globalists. You ought to come to grips with that before you get too disappointed.

Graham and McCain were BOTH up to their eyeballs in that whole Russia HOAX, not only that but Graham is totally part of the military industrial complex AND he feels that Trump has NO RIGHT whatsoever to enforce his own foreign policies, Graham I believe would be VERY HAPPY to see Trump go!! Graham has NEVER seen a war he didn’t want to be involved in!!! His BIG DONORS are ALL defense contractors!!! FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!

I don’t know about Gardner, but Collins has been very very outspoken. A vote is not going to make a difference, given his vocal support of the President and attacks on the unfair democrat hearing process.

They got enough video to make a ton of ads, if that is going to sway his voters.

Trump ran on the GOP ticket, wrote and ran on the GOP platform and endorsed many GOP politicians who now have no interest in supporting him or the agenda they promised to support. All of that should matter. I find it odd you would vote for him and them not expect that but whatever floats your boat.
