Tucker Carlson: Outrage over Trump's Syria decision shows Washington's perverse priorities
Fox News ^ | Oct 18 2019 | Tucker Carlson

Posted on 10/20/2019 3:32:51 PM PDT by rintintin

Finally, some good news from Washington. That doesn't happen very often. Over the weekend, the Trump administration announced plans to withdraw the remaining American troops that are still stationed in Northern Syria.

Of countless decisions Donald Trump has announced via Twitter, you'd think this would be the least controversial of all. There's no reason for Americans to remain in Syria. ISIS no longer controls the cities there. We have no plans to overthrow the Assad government either.

So, there's no longer a mission, and yet Syria remains a dangerous place. Five Americans have been killed there just this year, and that's especially poignant, given how pointless it is. So whatever you think of Donald Trump, he is admitting this -- the obvious -- and trying to fix it.

For once, Americans are coming home from a Middle Eastern tar pit, rather than staying forever, and we ought to be celebrating that. Across the country people are. But in Washington, people are apoplectic. They're telling us we're not allowed to leave Syria. It's immoral, they say. It's a betrayal. Not a betrayal of Americans - that wouldn't be a problem here in Washington. It happens here every day.

No, it's much worse than that. It's a betrayal of an ethnic group in the mountainous parts of Southwest Asia called the Kurds.

Now, what exactly do the people on TV know about Kurds? Well, nothing really. And in fact, it would be shocking if anyone at MSNBC had ever met a Kurd. And yet, suddenly on Monday, everyone in Washington seemed thoroughly outraged on their behalf.

Trump via twitter: When do the Do Nothing Democrats pay a price for what they are doing to our Country, & when do the Republicans finally fight back?

Right now, for a limited time, you can get two Kurds for the price of one Kurd, just by using the promo code Levin, that’s L E V I N.

So the big screamfest is about what, 50 SF guys embedded with the Kurds who were pulled back?

Do we have 50 SF guys South of Tucson on the US border? No?

If not why not? If they are put there, can they shoot back? Or would that be a big gasp - Oh Noes!

The Senators who are fainting about this are the same disgusting RINOs who voted AGAINST the border emergency that Trump declared JUST THURSDAY.

So they are in need of vapors because he’s not defending Syria’s border and that leads to them voting to ABANDON securing the US border?

I can’t imagine ANY of this happening in 1970. It would be considered insane.

The drumbeat from the Fake News and the perennial war party is that this is greatest military disaster since Pearl Harbor. Just another piece of propaganda for the anti-Trumpers to beat him with.

".... yet Syria remains a dangerous place. Five Americans have been killed there just this year...."

Not to be insensitive to the five Americans killed in Syria who were valiant, patriotic military warriors fighting for their country, but five Americans are killed almost every weekend in that war zone city in Illinois I think they call Chicago.

Let's not lose perspective of what a "dangerous place" is.

They probably are.
During the 2016 primaries, Mark Levin said voters who would only vote for a candidate who would enforce the borders are antisemitic.

Levin’s statements and behavior put him in the Ann Coulter box.

Syria been a Russian Client state since the 1950s. We weren’t there fighting Isis. We were running guns from Libya to Syria to “arm the freedom fighters” and topple Assad. It was “regime change” again.

Amazing how our “journalists” just ignored all the weapons and money O’s crime club, with the help of McCain, dumped into Syria that ended up arming ISIS.

What our moron squad Obama-Clinton-McCain etc were too stupid to learn is that Isis is one part of the Anti Assad forces. So anything we gave the “freedom fighters” ended up in Isis hands. That why you saw the pictures of all the trucks we bought “the freedom fighters” hauling Isis troops around

We had NO BUSINESS being in Syria. Trump is merely cleaning up one of the disastrous mistakes the DC Lobby for for Perpetual War made

Ever wonder why the O regime did nothing to stop ISIS selling oil out of Syria? Why the 0’s regimes rules of engagement specifically prevents bombing oil shipments or oil wells? It wasn’t until Trump brought it up at a 2015 debate that O was forced to take action. That what broke ISIS back, not some 50 guys hanging out with the Kurds.

Remember all the bombast at the 2015 debates where both Democrat, and Republican, candidates where trying to out macho each other on a No Fly Zone against Russia in Syria? If any of that “thinking” had been made policy we would of been in a shooting war with Russia over Syria now.

Trump is trying to clean up the mess Bush 1-Clinton-Bush 2 and Obama created.

Frankly I prefer Trump’s attempts to return to the pre Bush family traditional US policy.

Bush the 1st made a massive mistake ending our “Over the Horizon” posture in the ME. By failing to decisively win Desert Storm in 1991 Bush locked us in a full body hug with the Middle East tar-baby ever since. We been fighting in the area almost 30 years now because of that disastrous mistake

Maybe they’ll dust-off the false flag excuse that Assad was waging chemical warfare against us own people.

This picture just keeps running around in my head, where 15,000 Turkish soldiers are invading to massacre however many Kurds there are left, and there's 28 or 50 or a few hundred US soldiers right in the middle of it with no mission, no purpose, and no rules of engagement.

Does that sound like a good idea?

And the Democrats WANT THEM TO STAY THERE.

Why?

They are not fighting for their country, they are fighting because they were ordered to by politicians who as Tucker pointed out could give a $hit less about them, their families and comrades. Tucker is right and I am sick and tired of our politicians and retired Generals sitting in their ivory towers and sending young Americans to die in a useless attempt at nation building. This was Hillary’s and Obama’s War, why would anyone on this site be supporting this. Now, I am all for protecting Cheese Kurds, I love those.
