There are other considerations, one of which is the President’s personal safety. Democrats are on record as wanting the President dead. Some retired admiral said President Trump should be removed from office sooner rather than later without saying how that should be done. Lots of threats. We have had Presidents assassinated before. I wonder whose idea it was to drive President Kennedy around Dallas in a convertible. I don’t think he decided that for himself.

From an old Lil' Abner play,"What's good for General Bullmoose is good for the USA!"

"The rulers of the great powers of the world have always understood that constructing awe-inspiring facilities… inspires awe(and compliance) in their visitors, softening them up to concede to the wishes of their host."

* * *

I like this reasoning.  But most of all I like the weeping and knashing of teeth this causes in our enemeies.

I wonder what the nay-sayers would be bleating if Trump had offered to host the conference at no cost at all to the participants?

According to Wikipedia's list of G8 Summit locations, the second summit was held in Puerto Rico in 1976.

The site, chosen by President Gerald Ford, was the Dorado Beach Hotel and Country Club, which was owned by Nelson Rockefeller's brother Laurance's company RockResorts.

In other words, the second G7 Summit was held at the family-owned resort of the Vice-President of the United States.

Precedence or emoluments?

Perhaps the locale was selected in anticipation of pending news that other options could have been or will be bugged. This is only safe location.Upcoming news may verify this supposition
