Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., died Thursday morning at Johns Hopkins Hospital from “complications concerning longstanding health challenges,” his office said in a statement.
Cummings, 68, was the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee and heavily involved in the impeachment inquiry.
Cummings, of Baltimore, has not returned to work after an undisclosed medical procedure that he said would only keep him away for about a week. […]
He missed two roll call votes Thursday, the first day back following a two-week recess. He previously released a statement saying he’d be back by the time the session resumed. The 68-year-old hasn’t taken part in a roll call vote since Sept. 11.
The unidentified procedure caused Cummings to miss a September hearing on Washington, D.C., statehood. His statement didn’t detail the procedure. He previously was treated for heart and knee issues.

Cummings in his younger years was a Civil Rights hero in his own mind.
In his later years his assumption of absolute moral superiority to “ordinary” Americans led to the politics of division and hate.A race monger of the highest order, a colleague of racial shakedown artist Rev. Al Sharpton,both cut from the same liberal fascist mold.
Cummings was apoplectic about making America Great Again. His Utopia of a balkanized America attempted by Obama was slipping away. That Utopia was the very transformation of America into a racial / ethic mosaic where various areas of the nation would be ruled by racial and ethnic minorities who were to be finally victorious over the rest of America that allegedly exploited them. But wait, their utopian model did not include Jews and Asians! The Sanctuary City/Sanctuary State movement, the abandonment of US Sovereignty , and apology for US history were all part and parcel of Elijah Cummings later life, and his sordid legacy.
He has gone. And may his absence be filled with a politician from his community who understands that President Trump is the best thing that has happened to the Black Community since emancipation. The employment figures do not lie.

That’s not “breaking”.
Breaking would be “rigor mortis relaxing”.
I agree. What caused his death? He was filled with hate, which can have a negative impact on a person’s health.
There is a lesson here for his fellow corruptocrats Waters, Hastings, Wilson, Pelosi and all the other democrats who sign on for life once elected, scamming all the money they can get their grubby hands on. All that grifted dough, the mansions, the shiny baubles, wigs, threads, etc. just won’t stave off the inevitable. Once in office, they seem to get trapped between two ideals: Staying in office until death, and using the office to accumulate as much stolen money they can in a lifetime of “service.” The greed and power are what drive them to collect without a notion of actually making an effort to enjoy the ill gotten fruits of the labor of their aides, or - gasp - even putting it to good use.
It might go further than that. The media will try to claim Cummings was part of the Trump body count and foul play was involved!
