Is there a more whiney, helpless, overpaid, useless, troublesome group of democrats than the teachers unions..unless it’s all the other democrat public unions.

I don’t think online schools would work...they need PARENTS who care

They’ve already got a program in place to reduce class size.

How many killed last weekend?

Since it's Chicago, they can't blame Republicans for not funding the schools.

But they will.

Not only do they get 3 squares a day - but on Fridays, the ‘students” get back packs loaded with food to take home for the weekends.

You would first have to get rid of the “ghetto” culture, attitude, and societal apathy. The students do not care, the “parents” do not care, Administration does not care and basically exists to bloat all of The tax dollars it can.
I am not holding bad teachers blameless. They are also a cause of the problem.
You cannot unfairly solely blame teachers for the shortcomings of the students. The attitudes of all involved must be changed for progress to be made.
To tie the salaries of teachers to an apathetic group is decidedly not fair. It is comparable to a good chef working in a bad kitchen, with bad tools and bad ingredients attempting to feed ungrateful customers.
the system is broken and America does not have the willpower to fix it.

How would academic success be measured?

Comparing test results by teacher is not the way. Some teach academically gifted kids; some teach average ability kids, etc.

Comparing the progress of students during a given year with each student's progress in prior years is a way. What computers do best is crunch huge quantities of numbers. Think if the students in Teacher A'a class made on averate 0.7 year's progress while those same students the previous year made 1.1 year's progress and the year before that they made 1.0 year's progress. That data would give valuable information about which teachers are actually having students learn and which are not.

When deficient teachers are exposed, they could get help with improving or be pushed to find another career.

Anyone getting a raise needs to pass at least a 4th grade spelling test and be able to read and write cursive.

300k obamy kids legally skipping school and hanging out on street corners selling drugs.

“breakfast, lunch, and supper,”

Expecting parents to provide food for their own offspring is just a dated concept nowadays. Many schools now provide “backpacks” so children don’t starve over the weekends and also provide meals during the summer. You can be assured that these free meals provided by taxpayers are not counted against the family’s monthly food-stamp (SNAP) allotment—also provided by taxpayers.

Indeed it works that way for California,I know a 3rd grade teacher that makes $135,000 a year and still wants more greed and lazy go hand in hand.

75 percent of Chicago students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and many depend on schools to provide meals.

What are the parents spending their foodstamp money on?

No one really cares as far as white liberals go, any bleating from them will be the usual shrieks about conservatives so their fellow democratic voters don’t give them the stink eye. Of course no one bothers to ask the POCs stuck in that system what they think of white liberals, that is not who we are.

Cool. That makes it easier to steal everything out of the computer lab, the science lab, the band hall, the gym and every other unsupervised room.

If Trump really wanted to fundamentally change America he could do one simple thing which is in his power: ABOLISH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION and send the money to the States, or better yet, the local Counties.

Yeah - their students deserve parents who do some parenting and teachers who are more concerned with teaching instead of telling them they “deserve” all this other crap.
