The China Connection: How One D.E.A. Agent Cracked a Global Fentanyl Ring
The New York Times ^ | 16 Oct 2019 | Alex W. Palmer

Posted on 10/16/2019 7:58:44 PM PDT by Theoria

Fentanyl is quickly becoming America’s deadliest drug. But law enforcement couldn’t trace it to its source — until one teenager overdosed in North Dakota.

Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, Laura and Jason Henke awoke with a start at their home in Minot, N.D. Their dog was barking wildly. At the door, in the early morning shadows, they found a police officer and, behind him, a pastor. The officer asked to see Laura’s ID to confirm that he was at the correct address. Then he told them that their 18-year-old son, Bailey, was dead.

The officer didn’t have many details. Bailey Henke was living in Grand Forks, three hours east of his parents’ home in Minot, and the police there were working the case. The officer gave Laura the phone number for a detective in Grand Forks. She called and wrote down what he said: overdose, fentanyl. Laura had never heard of fentanyl; she wasn’t even sure how to spell it.

But Lebron "Trump is Bad" James doesn't want to say anything about this Genocidal regime that poisons American youth.

Lebron "I'm a Pansy" James is less than a man.

A really well-written piece that was educational with information I had never heard....

This is good journalism and kudos to the author for a very educational piece. Props to the DEA agent for his perseverance.

Shouldn’t you question the motivation for the NYT do do such a story? It’s as you say, a prop for the dea. Nothing in media and politics is by chance.

The more likely reality is that the dea is inolved in a massive protection racket along with banks and pols. Sure they need to write stories lauding the dea, but that’s a cover.

The police state boosters are at it again!

But at least if the dea is going to do something, its efforts should be focused on drug interdiction, not the practice of medicine.

the left candidates want to arrest doctors who prescribe opioids

The ‘New Truth according to democrats’ is that doctors are nearly solely responsible for opioids addictions and deaths- when in reality, opioids are only 1.5% Addictive or so, when taken as prescribed! if drug addicts are overdosing on opioids, they are doing so by combining them with alcohol OR/And illegal drugs at the same time- That is beyond a doctor’s control- but the vast majority of folks are NOT overdosing on prescription opioids- they are getting their drugs illegally off the streets- Doctors are NOT responsible for that either-

The left are going to outlaw/ban opioids- the most effective current pain relief medicine on the market, and the least addictive medicines around practically- Hell- nasal sprays are more addictive than opioids are- it’s just a matter of time before they do

How about this Hong Kong Bank? Cartel uses this one to launder money. Dea is a protection racket, do fall for the NYT bs fairy tale. Remember, NYT told its readers that Stalin was great when the starved Ukraine in the 30s. They have not changed. The are a deep state rag.

You’re right about that. The ODs are from poly substance consumption. I think it’s less than 10% of opioid related ODs are opioids alone.

Alcohol + benzo + opioid = dirt nap. Even when you put warning labels in the instructions and it’s common knowledge not to do it, some people will do it anyways. Just as some will drive drunk, or drink and shoot or use any product improperly. The sad fact is that these millenials are really into suicide, so whatever the means, they’ll find a way to do it.

The sheeple always need a scapegoat and the government is happy to oblige.

Less than 2% of doctors write a huge number of opioid prescriptions. Some get national reputations as go-to doctors for easy access to opioids.
The pharmaceutical companies know where their drugs are going. The distribution companies, such as McKesson, know exactly which pharmacies are receiving the opioids. Various government agencies know, because they are paid by Medicaid, Medicare, federal and state employee medical plans, etc.

These things go on for years/decades. Then a few small pharmaceutical companies get attention. Four big companies and one small one (Perdue) sell vast quantities of opioids. Opioids are great for acute and chronic pain, and when used as directed, are a good thing. But its’ quite easy to track use and abuse, with a small fraction of the profits made on the sale of opioids. It isn’t done, because powerful players like the current situation.
