UK refuses to join EU arms ban on Turkey
euobserver ^ | October 15, 2019

The UK will not join other European countries such as France, Germany, the Netherlands and Finland in halting selling arms to Turkey after its invasion in Syria, the Independent reports. The UK was initially also against an EU condemnation of Turkey's military attack, but later agreed to the EU's unanimous position. Because of the UK's refusal to a European arms ban, the EU agreed on stopping arms sales unilaterally.

And yet all their newspapers are condemning Trump’s withdrawal. Can we spell “hypocrite”?

The British Empire has kept the ottoman empire alive for centuries and it is an evil thing that they do.

I think the U.K. has been bought by Middle East interests. The U.K. is likely broke.

I guess the U.K. hates how all the current events remind the world how the U.K. reneged on their promise to recognize the Kurds in their own state when it defeated and dismantled the Ottoman Empire; placing its own selected Middle East cronies as the heads of state of the newly demarcated (by the Brits and the French) “nations” they created; recognizing the right to “self determination” to everyone but the Kurds.

Yes, the U.K. does not what its own hand in creating the current mess in the Middle East brought up. So it must join with Turkey in pretending the status quo was “natural” all along. Turkey alone could call the U.K. a hypocrite if it didn’t.

Who runs the U.K. today. Maybe it’s really run by the Muslim Brotherhood.

And they’re not reporting an EU ban on selling arms to Turkey! Why not? Is it because Orange Man bad?

What like the Guardian? Most of the newspapers hate Trump AND Johnson. They are pro globalist and anti patriot.

Think BAE Systems.

They have large contracts with the Turkish NATOmilitary.

BAE Systems has the contract for making all American High explosives RDX and such

The Americans carried on the policy of keeping it alive by getting Turkey into NATO and for the same reason, keeping the Russians in check. This is what great powers do, they secure their own perceived interests and if they have to shaft lesser peoples or countries to do that, well, that’s just tough, neither the British Empire nor the American hegemon was or is any different.

Newspapers say one thing, governments another and the people yet another. It wouldn’t be nice to judge the USA by what the new York times posted!!

Historically speaking you are right. The Ottomans would have been gone by 1820 and Constantinople would be Christians again if not for the UK playing games
