Thousands March in Kiev in Protest Against Donbass Peace Plan

KIEV (REUTERS) - Thousands of people marched through central Kiev on Monday to protest against President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's deal with Moscow to grant special status to a pro-Russian rebel-held region of eastern Ukraine as part of efforts to end a five-year conflict there.

Around 20,000 people, including war veterans, took part in the rally 'No capitulation' against what they say are unacceptable concessions by Zelenskiy over the Donbass region.

Ukrainian, Russian and separatist negotiators agreed last month that Kiev would grant the territory controlled by the separatists a special status and hold elections there.

Ukraine also agreed to call back its forces from the current contact line with separatist fighters.

The peace plan was previously rejected by the government. Zelenskiy has said he would "never betray Ukraine" and "any red line will not be crossed".

Nobody cares about Donetsk. Ukrainians don’t want it and neither does Russia.

“” “” Nobody cares about Donetsk. Ukrainians don’t want it and neither does Russia.”” “”

That is largely true but it is not important. The important is an extreme stupidity of population. The protests are pulled by the former president Poroshenko taunting Zelensky a surrender monkey.
A problem is the troops pullout and elections in Donetsk is an implementation of Minsk agreement and Steinmayer formula agreed by Poroshenko himself with Germany.
He praised the agreement as his diplomatic achievement at the time then failed to implement and now this.
All his speeches from that time are on internet it this era but dimwit Nazis are still listening to him.

"Ukraine also agreed to call back its forces from the current contact line with separatist fighters."

I've read that at least fifty times in official announcements over the years since Kiev figured out that taking Donbass back wouldn't be a walk in the park.

No one ever enforces it so some units don't pull back or the Kiev government never issues the order, I don't know which.

The troops aren’t pulling anyway. There is a video on YouTube from the rebel side. The idea is that on agreed day and time both sides are firing a white flare signaling their readiness and leave positions. Important point is the presence of OSCE blue helmets. At agreed time rebels are firing their flare and nothing happens. A rebel commander radios Ukie side and they say they didn’t see it. He said I say you I hired the flare. They say we didn’t see. Rebels fire another flare and situation repeats. Then rebels find English translator and ask OSCE guy to radio blue helmet on Ukrainian side to say flare is fired. He tries but they “have situation” on the other side. That is how Minsk agreement works. And it is allegedly Russian fault.

Why do you say that? My understanding is the Donetsk is heavily industrialized and contains valuable Industries and thereby, a significant GDP.

Seems to me it's the fault of whoever isn't in control of the Ukraine military or some units of the Ukraine military. At this point, after the musical chairs at Army HQ in Kiev, it's hard to tell who can actually give the Army an order and expect to have it obeyed.

Somebody misspelled “Dumbass” in the title. We just don’t have editors anymore.

The Nazis are calling the shots. They kept a low profile after fuhrer was voted out. Now they learnt Zelensky is an empty suit and out of woodwork.

I know folks with family still in Ukraine and they're kind of split between the Nazis are actually in charge and the Nazis being too strong for the government to challenge but not actually able to dictate what the government does about anything and everything.

I don't remember the two names, but it seems like two of the oligarchs are the main power brokers and sometimes go along with the Nazis but other times don't.

The only thing I know for sure is that there are about nine propaganda puff pieces in the "news" for every one piece of news that isn't slanted BS.

Nazis aren’t powerful. The vote for Zelensky was the vote against them. There are few of them but they are in the streets and Zelensky is fawning at them fearing protests and doing as they please disregarding the will of the people.

Why is it so hard for the government there to understand? When you depose a government in a coup, you don’t automatically inherit everything possessed by the government you just overthrew. You only get what you can take and hold by force. If antifa gained control of DC in a coup, do people in Lubbock Texas now owe allegiance to the new government in DC? Ridiculous.

Every small group in the country possesses that same right to grab what they can and chose their future. After all, you in the coup used the same concept to gain the government yourself.

Also a home of a population rejecting any Kiev government since their president’s ousted.

But I’d look for a new globalist sponsored coup soon. They are probably pretty angry that the most recent Ukrainian leader and government are cooperative with Trump and investigating the Biden ring...

A new coup would be a good way to stop that.

From an economic stand point there is interest in Donetsk. But the average person in Ukraine and Russia couldn’t care less. It’s a backwater on the border with Russia. Those folks in Donbas are naturally going to have something of an affinity for Russia due to geography and culture. It’s always been a manufactured crisis by Putinist Russia. It goes away the moment Putin decides it is not worth it.

The point is that all of Ukraine rejected the coup government at this point, not only the East. The government fails to realize it and do that the mobs representing minority wants from them.

I doubt it. Once Putin started shooting the “globalist” interest in Ukraine plummeted. Merkel has spent the past five years ignoring Ukraine and paying the Ukrainians off with cash and Schengen visas to keep them happy.

That’s Brennan’s talking point. Why there was a revolution 3 months before presidential elections? Yanukovich was about to be voted out anyway by pro-Western opposition.
The problem is every pro-Western government in Ukraine proved to be a disaster but people never learnt.
It was always a landing of a force of DC advisors rearranging control over national business and arranging aid packages for themselves to loot.
It never lasted more than one term for pro-Western leader because the damage was too big for the people to come to terms with.
The revolution and war was designed specifically to prevent return of pro-Russian administration. At current conditions they’d claim everyone who oppose Biden style corruption and want stronger Russian ties for economic benefits of the country as traitors.
Pro-Westerners in Ukraine never talk economy. For decades they are stirring the issue of Russian vs Ukrainian language and Orthodox vs Catholics. That’s all their talking points.
Now they have ‘war’ on top of it. Why Poroshenko derailed peace talks? He was looting the country together with DC advisors and the economy went to crapper. Language, religious baiting and now war were his excuses why there is ruin.
