Sen. Lamar Alexander calls impeachment a ‘mistake’

A retiring Republican senator who’s being closely watched for his view on President Donald Trump’s potential impeachment strengthened his stance against Democrats’ investigation of the president on Wednesday.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said in a written statement that impeaching President Trump “would be a mistake.”

Just last week, Alexander issued a more cautious statement. He said the Senate Intelligence Committee was probing Mr. Trump’s attempt to prod Ukraine into investigating former Vice President Joe Biden, a 2020 Democratic presidential contender, and added, “I want to know the facts before I comment.”

Alexander, 79, is respected on both sides of the aisle. With his four-decade political career winding down, he’s been considered a harbinger of what departing, moderate GOP lawmakers might do.

Alexander is telling the Democrats that need to make up better lies next time.

“Respected”? Not by me!

Of course that’s what it is.

But that’s not his style of talking. And the moderate, sober tone carries more credibility, coming from him. It’s more likely to give cover to the other nervous chin-rubbers, like Collins and the Alaska lady.

If Democrats can’t peel off RINOs and Never Trumpers, there is zero chance the Senate will vote to remove Trump.

That’s true even if the House votes for impeachment:

I’ll have to wait until the elections to see if it was a disaster to the nation.

If it gets us the house, it wasn’t

IT WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE AN EMBARRASSMENT to the nation.

So, the democrats spent 3 years on the Russian collusion hoax, are about to spend 2 years on the Ukrainian impeachment hoax, and then what?

Lamar! is respected by career politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Just not by actual Republican voters in Tennessee.

Cold water in the Democrat faces. Do they still go ahead it with it or do they pull back?

I hope they’re stupid enough to commit political suicide.

Anything that hurts the eco nomy is a huge unforgivable mistake.Obama had 8 years and couldn’t help the economy.Millenials want their investments to grow. I’m guessing even CA wants their clunkers back during this blackout during fire season.

I see the dow at almost all time highs

I see NO ONE paying attention to the “impeachment inquiry” but msm and dem leaders and rabid base.

People want the IMPOSSIBLE from the market.

Millennials have NO RIGHT TO CRY OR COMPLAIN over the STAGGERING rise since Trump’s been in office.

That kind of market greed causes massive corrections

They can can always get a second job if things arent’ moving fast enough for the princes and princesses

Impeachment wasn’t intended to be a form of politics.

“Obama had 8 years and couldn’t help the economy”

I don’t like Obama either. But my own 401 k recovered during his years, from the catastrophic decline under Bush. My house value, too.

Bush was GOP’s modern Herbert Hoover. It was amazing to me that his brother thought he could run for president after George W had disgraced the family name irreparably. It would be like running Herbert Hoover’s brother in the middle of the depression that started under Hoover.
