“I haven’t heard about State Farm and the 14,000 people. Do you have a source?”

State Farm is staying put in Illinois, but it doesn’t look like they are going to increase the number of employees in the state.

I consulted to State Farm in Bloomington 2002 - 2012. About 2008 it was rumored and 2010 it was announced that State Farm would decentralize and open centers in GA, TX and AZ.
Since then State Farm has moved over 6,000 jobs to the Dunwoody suburb of Atlanta.

Probably more than 6,000 to Dallas. When you google State Farm in any city but Dallas, the agents come up. When I google Dallas, the Dallas corporate headquerters Jobs available and head hunting sties come up. They are desperately looking for employees in Dallas and Metro Atlanta.

Phoenix-Tempe headquarters probably has less employees than GA and TX.

One reason State Farm brought in so many of us consultants to Bloomington was that it would be easier to move consultant jobs out of Bloomington. Us consultants are more open to relocating than employees. When jobs and workers are leaving IL the demand and price for housing is depressed. Employees cling to that house far too long and never recover the value they had at the peak in 2007.
