Fox News chief anchor Shepard Smith leaving the conservative network day . . .

Fox News chief news anchor Shepard Smith is leaving the conservative cable network after 23 years, it was announced Friday.

Smith’s appearance Friday on “Shepard Smith Reporting” was his last appearance on the network, according to Fox News. In addition to working as chief news anchor, Smith had been managing editor of the network’s breaking news unit.

Smith’s departure follows a report that he was warned last month by Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and network president Jay Wallace not to criticize the network’s evening anchor Tucker Carlson again.

Smith had said on the air that it was “repugnant” for Carlson not speaking up in defense of Fox News contributor Andrew Napolitano after a Carlson guest, attorney Joseph di Genova, called Napolitano a “fool” for saying that President Donald Trump had broken the law. Di Genova is a legal adviser to Trump.

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith is stepping down, the network said Friday in a statement.

“Recently I asked the company to allow me to leave FOX News and begin a new chapter. After requesting that I stay, they graciously obliged. The opportunities afforded this guy from small town Mississippi have been many,” Smith said in a statement. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to report the news each day to our loyal audience in context and with perspective, without fear or favor. I’ve worked with the most talented, dedicated and focused professionals I know and I’m proud to have anchored their work each day—I will deeply miss them.”

“Shep is one of the premier newscasters of his generation and his extraordinary body of work is among the finest journalism in the industry. His integrity and outstanding reporting from the field helped put FOX News on the map and there is simply no better breaking news anchor who has the ability to transport a viewer to a place of conflict, tragedy, despair or elation through his masterful delivery,” said Jay Wallace, President & Executive Editor of Fox News Media, in a statement.

“We are proud of the signature reporting and anchoring style he honed at FOX News, along with everything he accomplished here during his monumental 23-year tenure. While this day is especially difficult as his former producer, we respect his decision and are deeply grateful for his immense contributions to the entire network.”

No doubt Cavuto, another Fox drama queen, was grief stricken.

“In that story Smith, 55, acknowledged his relationship with 31-year-old Giovanni Graziano.”

Just a few days ago I was wondering how much longer Fox would allow an hour of advertising and viewership to go empty.

Well, I for one am heartbroken. I wonder if Judge Nappy is going to follow him. Are they a couple?

HOORAY — thank you Joe Di Genova. And President Trump for not holding back!

Now Fox, get rid of Napolitano. He wanted to be a Supreme Court pick and was rejected by Trump. FIRE HIM if you don’t want to be discarded to the ash heap of history, alongside Matt Drudge.
