Trump policies drastically reduce number of migrants sent to South Texas shelter

McALLEN, TEXAS (Border Report) — Crickets were literally heard chirping Wednesday inside the empty Humanitarian Respite Center run by Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley to help migrants.

In a giant room where just two months ago upwards of 1,000 migrants could be seen on any given day... there were only volunteers cleaning unused mats and two police guards at the front entrance on Wednesday...

U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Border Patrol are not releasing the migrants to her center like they used to.

The reason is that on July 17, the Trump administration implemented Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), also called “Remain in Mexico,” in South Texas. Since mid-July, almost all of the migrants apprehended in the Rio Grande Valley sector, which includes the counties of Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy and Cameron, have been driven by Border Patrol or CBP officials to the base of the Gateway International Bridge, which crosses from Brownsville, Texas, to Matamoros, Mexico. Migrants are then told to walk over the bridge and wait in Matamoros until their asylum hearing dates...

On Tuesday, the Trump Administration released new figures showing a dramatic drop in apprehension numbers across the Southwest border... in September, only 52,546 migrants were apprehended on the Southwest border — the lowest number in fiscal 2019 — and a decrease of more than 60 percent from May apprehension rates...

(because of) - MPP (Wait in Mexico Policy) - Beefed up security by Mexican forces on their southern border - Agreements reached “in principle” with Guatemala to have migrants apply for asylum there. - “Negotiated agreements with El Salvador and Honduras on asylum” - And the construction of a border wall.

A White House news release quoted President Trump as saying “We have taken very unprecedented action to stop the flow of illegal immigration.”

How long until the support system for the flow of illegals withers away, these facilities start closing, and their personnel move on to other jobs?

Every day under president Trump, the illegal immigrant industry grows weaker, and wall grows longer.

He’s doing an excellent job for us. Promises Made. Promises Kept.

The Dems won’t admit it, but 2020 is going to be a bloodbath for them.

And I can’t wait! MAGA! KAG! :)

It’s appalling how monies are being given to the various Catholic Charities by Catholics.

Catholics who give monies to those particular charities supporting illegal immigrants are not following Good Stewardship; they are simply being emotional.

There must be an awful lot of Catholics who are actually benefiting from the illegal immigration and I don’t mean just those in the Catholic Charities themselves.

Note: A former Catholic here. And I’d say the same thing for non-Catholic charities as well.

Aiding and abetting illegal activity is done by folks of all religious and non-religious folks and they all have their own self-indulging reasons.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan wrote and spoke extensively years ago on the unholy alliance of charities and the federal government. A key motivator for all of the private religious charities pushing for open borders and aiding and abetting illegal aliens is that they are all receiving matching funds and other funding from the feds to do this. It’s their lifeline now that church attendance has dropped so significantly in America. Follow the money it leads right to congress the arm of government most disconnected from the people.

“It’s appalling how monies are being given to the various Catholic Charities by Catholics.”

Baptist Family and Child Services, and Lutheran Church are also major operators of support infrastructure for the flow of illegal immigrants into the USA.

In the past (Obama Admin), they were paid by the US Government to scale up large logistics operations, that made them profits - and provided moral/political cover for the policy of encouraging illegal immigration.

A Catholic here!

I haven't given to any Catholic Bishops funds or Catholic Charities for years, and this is the reason. I've been vocal about my non-support among my brethren. When challenged, I suggest they read Aquinas on immigration.

I'll trust Aquinas before Francis.

Oops...

That should be Baptist Child and Family Services (BCFS), not Family and Child.

It’s not lay catholic money, it’s YOUR tax money and bishop money diverted. It’s not proper and the catholic faithful know it and are asking God to step in. He will draw straight...on His timing. Trump is one answer.

That is not an accurate statement in and all by itself. True the government provides SOME funds. The truth of the matter is Chatolics DO give those funds. When I attends Catholic services the priest was ALWAYS asking for donations for various Catholic organizations to help with illegals. I got down right angry because there would be Americans needing help.

Yup, I trust the “Old Guard” far more than the current leadership.
