If they are attacking military targets then they are not terrorists but freedom fighters

Trump is no different than Bush

He’s very different. Tump is focusing on America’s border - our southern border. Let Turkey, Syria and the Kurds deal with the Turkey/Syria border.

I agree but then don’t give Turkey permission after getting off a call with them to invade

“So Trumps goal is to rebuild the Ottomam empire?”

Trump is concerned about defending America’s border. That is what an American president is supposed to be concerned about.

Do you consider Lincoln a bad president because he didn’t send troops to fight the Ottoman empire?

Neither Turkey nor the Kurds should be in Syria. It’s a sovereign country. But it’s not our job to defend its sovereignty. If Assad is capable of doing so, it’s his job. If Russia wants to do so at Assad’s request, that’s their business. US hasn’t been invited in, so we’re violating another country’s sovereignty by being there. And I don’t care whether Assad is an autocrat, it doesn’t give us license to invade or occupy.

For not fighting a foreign war that the Congress never voted for? If Republican Senators vote to impeach him over that, they better have their resumes up to date.

you don’t get it, do you? It’s none of our business. When something is none of our business, to say we “greenlight” it is redundant.

Kurds are a large minority in Syria, not outsiders. Kurds have a history, culture and language and deserve national self-determination, which is currently denied.

‘Palestinians’ have no separate history, culture or language that distinguishes them from other Arabs, yet there is worldwide demand for them to have their OWN brutal national dictatorship.

Kurds “deserve national determination”.

Should US send soldiers to fight for that cause? Maybe we should have fought for the Russian minority in Ukraine as well?

Or maybe we should focus on our own country, our own people, our own borders. That’s Trumps message, and it makes sense to me.

Not our circus, not our monkeys.

Just pointing out that there is NO END to lost American treasure and lives if we feel compelled to right the world’s wrongs.

We’re in the ME because of oil. We no longer need their oil so we should butt out. We’re not like Muslims who believe in permanently occupying everyplace we set foot. Or are we?

Turkey’s goal is to regain turkic homelands.

Trump’s goal is to let historic enemies shed their own blood and not ours.

So on the call Erdogan said remove or troops or die. And Trump tucked tail and ran?

Nope.

Turkey wanted a so-called buffer zone all along the border. We agreed to it months ago. This is an area that the Kurds had only occupied about 3 years ago, chasing down ISIS.

Previously the area was occupied by Assad’s troops.

Most of this buffer zone is majority Turkomen and Arab, not Kurds.

We don’t do what Erdogan says, just because he wants it, ever.

We didn’t run, we simply moved about 100 troops about 40 kilometers from their obsertvation posts.

We have 19 bases in the former Syria, now Rojava.

We are pouring concrete and requisitioning fuel, hardly tucking tails.....

We are building a new base right across the border in Jordan that is so big and permanent that we are hiring a community planner for the American personnel and their families to live in.

The Rojava Kurds aren’t aligned politically with the Iraqi Kurds that most people thing of.

Oh so he didn’t actually take the troops out of Syria, but moved them back?

Maybe its his messaging that just needs some work then?

The Turks have argued that they want to put the 3+ million Arab refugees there in this “safe zone” and get them out of Turkey.

Not sure I believe that this isn’t a veiled land grab.

Anyway, the Kurds have handed Turkey their butts several times. The Turks will likely suffer serious losses.

We have been training the Rojava Kurds on Javelins and they are very good.

Yup, Trump could do a much better job explaining this. He may not be up on the actual situation on the ground.
