The first city should be Tehran, not Terah. I am not sure where or what Terah is.

"To cut costs, Guterres mentioned postponing conferences and meetings and reducing services, while also restricting official travel to only essential activities.."

So how much non-essential activity was allowed?

Boot the leaches from the USA.

“additional stop-gap measures” would have to be taken to ensure salaries and entitlements are paid."

What the heck are UN "entitlements?"

"Guterres had asked member states earlier this year to up contributions to the world body to head off cash flow problems, but they refused"

Ya don't say!

I believe ‘entitlements’ are what Americans typically call ‘benefits’ like insurance, etc.

Kick them out of the building. Then tear down the building and create a nice park. Something useful.
Those kicked out can go to Brussels and feed at that trough.

The UN vastly overpays its staff. I say that as one who enjoyed its largesse for 5 years. The greatest scam is people from third world countries who start off as (overpaid) local staff in their own countries and then go on UN assignments in other countries as international staff for 10x the cost.

This is where the UN causes talent drain in developing countries. They hire some of the most capable people, because they pay more. These people go to other countries to get paid even more. Meanwhile people from other countries come to the developing county (at high international rates) because the best people have left! So the UN directly weakens the national talent pool of every country they seek to “help”. In the process they create an overpaid global elite of capable third world opportunists.

As the Council on Foreign Relations explained earlier this year, U.S. contributions are vital to the UN’s operations, and cuts to discretionary contributions implemented by Mr. Trump’s administration have already forced the UN agency that serves Palestinian refugees to make deep cuts.

So, Trump has stopped the discretionally contributions but paid the min?

Those discretionary contribution cuts have made deep cuts in discretionary programs.

Looks like the system is working to me with Trump in charge.

This is the program>

The United Nations originally created UNRWA as a temporary agency to respond to the humanitarian crisis facing more than 750,000 Palestinian refugees after the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.

UNRWA is the discretionary program suffering from lack of discretionary contributions.
