Yes, Eisenhower’s Farewell Speech had the military and universities exactly identified. Prophetic:

ISIS is a grandchild from the Mujahideen who we empowered and aided to defeat Russia in afganistan. This was when we helped create and empower Osama Bin Laden.

He should also remind people that the CIA told George Bush that Saddam having WMD was a “slam dunk”. They then told Obama that ISIS wasn’t a major threat. Then the same intelligence people said he (Donald Trump) colluded with Russia to fix the election.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Tie it all together, Mr. President.

Run against the CIA—Deep State.

I have come to the conclusion after the incredible gains from our military initially in Afghanistan after 9/11, everything else subsequent has brought us to where we are now. We can’t have a do over but we can end it so thus President Trump has the guts to do it. Strategically the focus needs to be in Asia. Europe can dither in the Mideast since they are being colonized by Islamists. The worthless U.N. can go save the Kurds as they bend over backwards for the fake Palestinians. Let the pathetic U.N. fix the problems their predecessors created since WWI.

He had current inside knowledge at that time the people did not know about. And as a true intelligent visionary he saw the writing on the wall.

We still need to bomb Iran. Once they have nuclear weapons they will use them.

And there are the connections to be seen and understood. It’s been happening since the 50s and the Iranian Coup. The CIA is NOT a friend of the United States of America, They are a tool owned by the Global powers who control the world through war and financial manipulation.

Well, the desire for conquest been going on for a lot longer than the US has been around. What was the prime motivation behind every empire since pre-history? To do good? Or to acquire territory, women, wealth & power?

It's just nature - competition over scarce resources and all that. The founders were well aware of this phenomenon; I mean, England was the poster boy of globalism. They had the technology, the infrastructure, the financing, etc to go where they wanted and to do what they pleased. India, China, N America? Why, that's ours now, piss off. However, what did Paine say about the bastard William establishing a legacy that colonialists were expected to honor?

Actually, I don't have a problem with aggression & territorial acquisition. I just wish we were (more) honest about it. It would have been so much mentally easier during the Mexican war, the Civil war, the Spanish war, et al since the objectives were clearly stated. OTOH, since it's an insider's game, you're supposed to know the score - no one is going to be so obvious as to spell it out for the rubes in fly-over country.

So, yeah, it's all a game and one is faced with a choice: (a) get in on the play, including choir participation; or (b) continue to be a frustrated idealist. I'm pretty much in camp A, but for some reason feel like I should spill the beans to the marks. That's why I like Trump - he takes a principled position, and I for one would be willing to go along if it's proved that Americans aren't completely brain-washed media creations.

I hear you, but even in in 1945 Nagasaki, Japan, there existed Japanese Christians. Sometimes war is such hell...

I’m still convinced, though, that those two atomic bombs saved millions of Japanese and American GIs, regardless of their religion.

Sometimes, we have to be brutal to prevent an even worse brutality.

Will we ever use nukes again?

I hope and pray not, but...

If people from another country kill Americans then we need to kill them back.

Either we can rely on the governments of those countries they’re from to do this for us, or we make war on those governments.

If we don’t, then killing Americans becomes a great sport.

For many people here, they’ve seen too many time where we’ve let them kill us with little repercussions. It’s just people venting. I doubt many want to nuke an entire country to avenge even an act of war.

The bottom line remains that we act swiftly and strongly to teach the objective lesson that messing with us and our people will hurt you worse.

~~~
In keeping with the theme, I’d assess that it’s more of Israel’s problem than anyone. Perhaps they could use (as clandestine as possible) an assist, but if my understanding of nuclear technological development is correct (and it probably isn’t as I am no expert) you really don’t want to wait for them to get done enriching to weapons grade. After they get that far, the rest is academic and extremely tough to hit.
Not to defend them because they are absolutely radical and insane, but do you have any clue why Iran has been mad at the US for so many years? We should be more worried about our own CIA than Iran as an enemy, Iran is a residual secondary threat.
Here's where your logic fails: let's assume Iran drops a nuke on NYC. Does the US fall? Is it in imminent peril? Do we wake up the next morning to great our new Iranian overlords?
Of course the answer is no to all of the above. However, let's play out what happens with the continued corruption and participation in global affairs for financial gain. What happens to the body politic? Will the US maintain it's position as a bastion of the rule of law? What about the flood of migration after every regional conflict? Think the "new" Americans hold any allegiance to the core principles of this country?
You see, the true existential crisis facing the republic isn't a foreign adversary - we're never going to be conquered in the sense that foreign troops are placed at intersections. But the slow decline, the corruption of ideals, principles and culture spells the mounting, imminent danger. Anyone looking around can see how very very close this country came to going down.
Except for Trump. The priority should be domestic - snapping this country back to abiding by its original founding principles. It's never going to be defeated externally - even if 5m people were lost in a single day. But is is sure as sh!t going to fail following the current path. What was that oath about defending the constitution? That's the priority - ID the threats and focus on those first.
Eisenhower’s Farewell Address also foretold the role of computers in government-financed research leading to a power-grab by elites.
Absolutely! I am a full supporter of actions that truly need to be made, letters of marque and reprisal come to mind. But go stomp the crap out of them, make a strong point, and then get out. Anything other is just nibbling at the edges and prolonging for profit and a perpetual business opportunity.
NYC has about 8.4 million people.
Bomb Iran is the best course of action.
Iran has attack everyone in the mideast. I suspect they will get theirs before they get nuclear weapons as their neighbors know they are targets.
I do not buy that number. The war budget is about 70b a year. I think they are taking the entire defence budget. Using the 70b number it would take 114 years to reach 8t.
