100 troops in Syria? How's that going to help the Kurds?

Just send them arms and weapons and let them defend themselves !!

And starting yet another trade war with Turkey in response isn’t going to solve anything.

uhh….yes, it will. Turkey is an economic basket case. So bad that the EU walked away from the stench. A classic case of a war you can win without firing a shot.

They’re a tripwire, and they can act as Forward Air Controllers and bring down H*** from above in large quantities.

No, the response has not been” brutal across the board”.

How is it that the Kurds survived for centuries and in the recent decades without us having any troops in Syria? Maybe the big picture is that Turkey doesn’t do itself a favor by being seen as an invader. Ultimately Turkey’s reputation in NATO is suffering . And there is the risk of suffering economic consequences with the United States. Having troops in Syria, a country which is very hostile to the United States, is an awkward positioning for us.

Turkey is a NATO ally. We can't attack Turkey.

There are no good choices except to leave.

RE: There are no good choices except to leave.

ARM THE KURDS with sophisticated weapons the way we did the Mujahadeen when they fought the Soviets.

A trip wire to prevent an offensive is one thing. Turkey is in NATO how crazy is it going to be for the United States to get into a hot war with Turkish troops in Syria? It seems to me that Turkey has always hated the Kurds and has always had to live with them next door. They aren’t going to massacre or wipe out the Kurds. More likely they are going to get themselves into a mess.

They provide artillery and air support among other things. Take that away and the Kurds are at a tremendous disadvantage against the Turkish army.

Not well. Tens of thousands have died at the hands of Turkey and Syria and Iraq over the years.

The damn Kurds don't belong in N.E. Syria. If they don't want to be in harm's way...LEAVE! They actually INVADED Syria themselves and occupy a very small area. If they want to keep that land it violates international law. Funny how no one mentions this.

RE: Not my circus, not my monkeys.

These “monkeys” risked life and limb to help us get rid of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

These “monkeys” also hold 10,000 ISIS fighters in their jails. If Turkey destroys them, you might see all of these monsters loose again.

I agree. On this issue I do hope Trump reconsiders!

If he backs down on this, he'll lose a lot of support from the people who elected him.

Like finding the money and building the wall as much as he can in spite of the outcry, this is the same sort of test. Either Trump is draining the swamp and taking power away from the Deep State and their paid cadre of RINOs, or he's not.

If Romney and Cruz want him to stay, he should know damn well that staying is the wrong thing to do.

Well, train the Kurds to do the same thing and provide them with the weapons to do it.
