The city council of Jackson, Mississippi voted 3-1 to enact 15-foot “buffer zones” around all medical facilities, including abortion facilities, where police will also be required to enforce restrictions on noise, such as “shouting.”
Although the buffer zones are supposedly intended to apply to any health facility in the area, there is broad consensus that the law is actually aimed at pro-lifers protesting outside the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the state’s only abortion facility. Supporters of the law claim it gives women “personal space,” but opponents point out that such buffer zones are an unconstitutional violation of free speech on a public sidewalk, and that it would hinder pro-lifers from peaceably praying with and for women entering the clinic.
The ordinance passed after a heated debate, where supporters — including Commissioner of Agriculture Andy Gibson, who posted about the ordinance’s passing — as well as opponents came out to voice their opinions about the intended ordinance.
In addition to the buffer zone and the noise restrictions, where noise is defined as “loud, boisterous or raucous shouting in any residential or quiet zone,” according to City Attorney Tim Howard, the ordinance also prevents protesters approaching within eight feet of a patient while the patient is within a 100-foot radius of the facility. Violations of the ordinance carry up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The Mississippi Center for Public Policy pointed out that while the noise regulation is aimed at pro-life protesters, “the noise is often escalated by the abortion center who will turn up music while sidewalk participants attempt to speak with those around the abortion center and that the regulation curtails their free speech rights.”

“The free speech rights of those trying to sell abortions remain in effect,” SFLA President Kristan Hawkins said, according to WLBT. “Crushing the free speech rights of those who care about both mother and preborn child is clearly unconstitutional, and frankly unfair, as abortion supporters are allowed to push their deadly agenda.”
This is not the first time the city has tried to interfere with pro-life protesters. As Live Action News has previously reported, in 2014, the state of Mississippi agreed to stop interfering with the rights of pro-lifers to protest. That decree expired after one year.
A 2014 Supreme Court case, McCullen v. Coakley, unanimously ruled the practice of “buffer zones,” around abortion facilities or elsewhere, is unconstitutional.

Jackson, MS has descended to third-world hellhole status under its political leadership (a Black Supremacist Communist with a fake African name is the Mayor). I guarantee 100% of those being aborted here are Black. The Mayor cares so much about Blacks, yet he’ll do nothing to stop Black genocide (just like so many of the leftist African dictators he chooses to emulate).
Nothing unusual about this. Protesting is protected by the First Amendment, but it’s the right to peaceably assemble. Getting right in people’s faces and shouting at them is not peaceable assembly, and to safeguard access of patients at a clinic, or customers at a grocery store, or attendees a convention, that are being picketed, with a buffer zone, is par for the course, so long as the buffer zone isn’t unreasonably vast.
You can’t even pray in the buffer zone.
So parts of America really do have concentration camps. We now have buffer killer zones to murder humans. The Nazis would be so impressed but equally jealous. (Any)lives matter is a farce to the left especially blacks.
Abortion is the real Black Genocide. It’s the reason that Hispanics are now the 2nd largest group in the country behind Whites. At least 10 million abortions have been performed on Black unborn.
It's raucous and unnerving, and I can only imagine it raises the stress and the blood pressure of both their staff and their patients.
It certainly belies their claim that they want their patients to enjoy a calm, serene, dignified baby-disposal experience.

Well, that’s something else. It’s necessary to make lemonade out of such situations. Reminds me of one of my favorite scenes from Zulu, when the Zulus are chanting loud enough to wake the dead, but the Welsh choral group starts loudly singing a hymn that catches on, and the outnumbered soldiers successfully drowns the assembled impys out.
Suggestion: Perhaps bring boom boxes and loudly play Johnny and June singing I’m Going to Jackson, or If I Were a Carpenter in response, every time they pull that. The Man In Black is among the immortals of music, and doesn’t get rattled. Also try recording the racket they make, so they can’t play the wide-eyed innocent victims in court, bitterly complaining how horrible it is to hear Johnny Cash and June Carter (those two racists!) caterwaulering at them, when they’re just going to peacefully kill a baby.
I understand that Jackson, MS, has so degenerated over the years that many would refuse to stop there at all.

Yup. Chokeme Senior died in office after a fortunately short tenure as Mayor. Alas, as of last night, Montgomery, Alabama may be soon following its neighbor state capitol city down the drain, electing a Black leftist to succeed a Republican. Whites have already been leaving Montgomery to the point that it is now Black majority, but with this guy’s election, it is all but guaranteed to cause a flood. Jackson’s White pop. was just 18% in 2010, but I would not be surprised if it had dropped to 10% or less by now.
