Americans fear climate change - and the cost of figuring it out (only 11.29 years left)
Newsday ^ | 10/05/19 | Noah Smith

Although the wealthy can and should be expected to make larger sacrifices than the middle class, it's vanishingly unlikely that any plan serious enough to slow global warming will leave the bulk of Americans financially untouched.

But if Americans are going to be asked to engage in a war on climate change, they should understand the material and economic sacrifices that will be required of them. The best way to do this is to look at an ambitious, well-crafted climate plan like the one put forward by Washington Governor Jay Inslee.

**SNIP**

Much of this could be financed with taxes on the rich, but it will take a huge amount of labor and other resources to carry out. Those resources will have to be diverted from producing other goods and services, which means prices for consumer items throughout the economy probably will rise. Those higher prices mean that most Americans will become poorer in the short term, though government redistribution can cushion the blow.

Eliminating fossil-fuels will also mean labor reallocation. Switching to green energy will create more jobs than it destroys.

You know, shovel-ready jobs. Noah really should live in Venezuela for a few years and get back to us.

Human activity is not causing the Earth to get warmer. As the Sun gets warmer the planets of the solar system get warmer.

The only climate change that some people should fear is the climate change they will face after their last breath on earth should they not have made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior.

Newsday, still far left and the writer is a crazy Marxist. He’s also a murderer. Look at how he murdered the English language - “it’s vanishingly unlikely”. Only a British fop or leftwing American writer would even try to use such a BS set of words to describe anything.

Book him Dano!

Many extremely wealthy people insist their less affluent fellow citizens must adopt radical lifestyle changes, and embrace punitive taxes, to ameliorate climate change. Yet not one has walked the talk by giving up private jet transportation, selling multiple grand homes to live in a single tiny zero carbon footprint home, trading gas guzzling vehicles for bicycles and public transportation, exchanging a yacht for a kayak, or buying second hand merchandise at Goodwill stores. They insist carbon taxes are needed but not one voluntarily strikes a check to the IRS to show the way. How many of them have adopted a zero impact lifestyle and lived it for successive years?

The answer of course is none. If their plans for the green economy are ever forced on the general population, they will continue to live lives of high consumption by paying our elected representatives to provide for the few special exemptions from green taxes and regulation.

"Human activity is not causing the Earth to get warmer."

That's right. It's not doing so to any noticeable extent.

"As the Sun gets warmer the planets of the solar system get warmer."

Well, it's much more complicated than that. We're going through an extended solar minimum with slight cold fluctuations. It's happened before, and our ancestors made it through just fine.

There's also a shift of the earth's magnetic field in progress. That happens in concert with periodical shifts in the earth's outer core and only happens once in a really long time.

During such shifts, weak spots appear in the field, allowing more solar and cosmic rays to come through, causing more temporary holes in the ozone (leaving out the causes here due to lengthy explanation otherwise) and only a tiny bit more heating in some places at times, of the atmosphere and the earth's surface.

Increased volcanism and seismicity probably happen with it (increased outer core movement speed and jitter), so there are increased methane leaks, also causing more temporary holes in the ozone. So you see increasingly more fluctuations towards warmer temperatures with that. Some periods of desertification further into northern latitudes are also occurring.

It won't get much more intense than what we're already seeing. Although incidences of cancer and economic recessions will increase, most of us will survive it for good lifespans. Life on earth has survived it before.

Many people are involved in the climate change scam to push junk science rackets (grants, etc.), socialism and the like. Others are simply overreacting: for example, those being soaked by the crooks for donations. Many of the donors are under the impression that resources (like food) will become dangerously scarce, or that markets will change enough to strip them of their wealth. In other words, they're being conned and are freaking out and pumping money into Democrat campaigns and other deleterious causes.

My main point is that the climate changes are all from natural causes. There’s nothing we can do but to adapt and live with them. Wear hats. Use sunscreen. Build smarter to keep electric bills lower. Take measures to keep the very young and old people cooler.

And welcome feasible alternative energy projects into your locales. It appears that hundreds of millions more people on this planet will soon be consuming fuels.

A disease epidemic would probably be the most likely threat to any large portion of the global human population.

This guy's totally off-base when it comes to the American public fearing climate change.

It doesn't not even make the top 20 things the American voters want Congress and the president to deal with.

But what he correct on, is what I have been saying for years.

All only thing the climate change cult wants is your money, all of it.

And they keep doubling down on their dire need to "fix the problem" (read: We want your money and we want it now) every ten years or so, to keep the scam going ahead of the public's understanding that they're being lied to.

The cult never says what specifically they will do to "solve the problem", except we want to empty your wallets to save the planet.

Biggest scam in history.

Still no “scientist” will explain what the correct temperature for the planet is supposed to be.

Let me give you a hint:

Latitude dependent, when seeds (or rooting) from the local plant life can germinate (or spread), grow until they produce a new generation of seeds (or newly rooted plants to sprout) for the next generation that will also be successful in the reproduction cycle.
