If you want proof that Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats are creating a rigged game that sets up a coup to destroy the president, simply look at the last two legitimate impeachment efforts — in 1973 and 1998.
Both Democratic Judiciary Committee Chairman Peter Rodino in 1973 and Republican Judicial Committee Chairman Henry Hyde in 1998 set a standard for fairness and operated with a judicial temperament of seeking the truth rather than maximizing partisan advantage.
In 1973, Rodino set the gold standard for fairness. The rights of the minority were protected. The American people’s right to know what was going on was protected.
Chairman Rodino himself set a standard for fairness and seriousness as a congressman exercising constitutional oversight. In fact, the Rodino Rules for bipartisanship were widely considered so fair and legitimate that when we were faced with a special counsel report charging that President Clinton had committed 11 potentially impeachable offenses, our initial response was bipartisan.
Democratic leader Dick Gephardt and I held a joint press conference announcing that we had agreed the entire report should be published so the American people could make up their own minds.
Compare their behavior with the wild lies House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has been telling for two years – first about the Russian collusion hoax and now about the Ukrainian absurdity.

The Dems concocted this "Watergate" controversy just so they would become relevant again. Because of their witch hunt, the Dems were able to cut aid to South Vietnam and Cambodia, leading to Communist victory and the slaughter and enslavement of millions of Southeast Asians.
The difference now is, Nixon was an unlikeable guy who never really connected with is voters. Trump has tens of millions of supporters who will go to the barricades for him, and will fight the gungrabbing babykillers tooth and nail.

Are you really sure “tens of millions” will go to the barricades for President Trump? I’m not, because I think most people are basically too lazy to protect their own best interests.
Pelosi may have to focus her time now to keep her son out of jail for fraud and she has 10 million shares in his company.
Maybe she’ll offer to be a character witness for him, then again maybe his lawyer will shoot that down. :^)

Partly. But Nixon was a Progressive, big government guy at heart. He hated guns, founded the EPA, and supported the culture war against the countryside.
He never even tried to push back against the "Great Society" powergrab.
So he did not have the support of his base.
Of course, the Progressive left had near complete control of the information flow in 1973. They had destroyed McCarthy.
When they forced out Nixon, they knew they could rule the nation, and they did.
Every politician feared them.

Watergate was BS. Wussy Republicans should have stuck up for Tricky Dick.
Newt shouldn’t throw him under the bus now just to try and tag Pelosi as being so much worse than the pondscum of the past, 1973 was a partisan witchhunt just like this one (and Andrew Johnson was garbage but that was nothing but partisan as well).
