A woman’s paramour has been ordered to pay $750,000 in damages to her ex-husband.

On Aug. 19, a Pitt County, N.C., Superior Court judge decided that Greg Jernigan must pay Robert Kevin Howard for sleeping with his wife, according to court records.

“I filed the case because I felt it’s very important that people understand that the sanctity of marriage is important, especially in this day and age when people question everyone’s morals, people question everyone’s viability as a person,” he told WITN. “And the state backed me up on it.”

Ridiculous decision. I hope the guy appeals, wins, and counter sues for all back legal fees and damages. Why should the wife’s boyfriend owe the husband anything? It was the hoebag wife that cheated. She should pay alimony. But no. Don’t hold the woman responsible. Sue the other guy because he’s a man. And some idiot judge goes along with it.

IMO, he should have just let it go and move on. He found out, hopefully on the cheap, what he had. He was the first street car that came along and when it slowed down, she jumped off. He should be thankful he did not end up with an STD (hopefully not anyway).

Could have gone worse for him

“With her great persuasion she entices him; she lures him with her flattering lips. He follows her on impulse, like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer bounding into a trap, until an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare—not knowing it will cost him his life”

i agree. The wife cheated, the husband should not expect the lover to respect their wedding vows. She disrespected the vows.
altho, i do hate people that chase after married folk. Go find someone single to pant after.

These “alienation of affection” lawsuits were common years ago, but most states don’t allow them today. - Tom

Tortious interference.

The man injected himself into the marriage. His choice, his doom.

I actually think it’s a great decision.

Actions have consequences.

As far as I’m concerned, the only reasonable defense is that you didn’t know she was married.

And that should cost him $750,000 or even $0.75 why exactly?

why should there be a legal consequence to a personal matter? And why isn’t the ex wife the one paying?

He should have sued his harlot wife. If this verdict stands, there’ll soon be herds of wealthy cucks roaming the fruited plain.

The paramour is lucky. It wasn’t that long ago he would have been challenged to a duel.

It’s not a legal matter. It’s a civil matter. It’s civil court. Lawsuit.

You can sue anybody for anything. But it doesn’t mean you will win.

You can’t sue your spouse for doing bad things or divorcing you. But apparently you can sue someone for convincing your spouse to leave you while also banging them. That last part is the key.

Like I said, the only defense should be ‘I didn’t know they had a spouse.”

If you read the article, these "home wrecker" laws date back to the 18th century and are a means for redress when someone breaks up a "happy home."

In this case, the couple were married for 12 years and had two kids. The local school district assigned the wife to be the "mentor" of the male snake (who was a new teacher in town). Eventually they consummated their professional-turned-private relationship. The husband confronted his wife, she acknowledged the affair, they went for counseling but they broke up.

Of course the ex-wife is culpable but the snake isn't an innocent player. Pardon me if I don't cry a river. Amongst all the injustices in the world, seeing an actor in one of the most vile acts of immorality lose a civil case on that matter with a $750k consequence ranks low on my list of "things that will trigger me."

Once upon a time in my somewhat more naïve youth, I briefly dated a woman who neglected to tell me she was married to a Marine Corps drill instructor!

I checked first after that...

There’s a case where a woman sued her husband’s lover (then wife) for “alienation of affection” (IIRC). She won, too.
