Trump did NOT commit an impeachable offense on call with Ukraine’s president – Here’s why
Fox News ^ | October 02 2019 | Gregg Jarrett

Posted on 10/02/2019 3:41:36 AM PDT by knighthawk

In their delusive demands for the impeachment of President Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats are substituting partisan politics for the commands and intent of the U.S. Constitution. This became self-evident when Pelosi announced her impeachment folly the day before she even set eyes on the alleged evidence, which turned out to be no evidence at all.

The usual gaggle of misanthropes like Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff of California and Jerrold Nadler of New York have been searching for a reason – any reason – to impeach Trump ever since his improbable election in November 2016.

With a shove from the chronically vapid Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Pelosi and her confederates have now settled on the most implausible of all their impeachment schemes peddled during Trump’s presidency – that his conversation with Ukraine’s president somehow constitutes an impeachable offense. It does not. Not even close.

When do we fire the deep state excessive breeding. Trump needs to take over the hiring process and start by blocking all Harvard grads.

The facts and law do not matter to the DEMs. The call record shows, for a fact as far as they are concerned, that Trump pressured Ukraine to get dirt on Biden in order to affect the outcome of the DEM primary and ultimately the 2020 election.

To the DEMs, that is an incontrovertible FACT.

Even if that is legal (it is - even if Biden is not a corruptocrat), the DEMs have already converted the phone call into an impeachable offense.

And on top of that, refusing to submit to DEM absurdities will create a second offense, OBSTRUCTION.

The only way to stop it is remove them from power.

An “impeachable offense” is anything that the House of Representatives includes in Articles of Impeachment that are passed by the House. There is no other standard.

How about all Ivy League grads, period? It's the only way to be sure.

The old OSS - the origin of the CIA - was so infested with them that it's a miracle every nation they touched didn't become a Soviet satellite after 1945. The worst kind of progressives: elitist progressives.

I thought it was as simple as this treaty signed by Bill Clinton MANDATED he asked the question... That is what makes this whole thing best of all, something Billy boy signed will be used to bring them all down!

The House is in recess. Who is testifying, and where?

I firmly agree with Greg Jarrett on his opinion piece especially the part that disparages then representative Ford and his ill considered remark about the nature of impeachment. I am fully aware that ultimately the House of Representatives and the Senate will make political decisions but each will seek to cloak those decisions and votes in constitutional and legal precedent.

Therefore, it is imperative that the Republicans immediately confront the issue of whether the president committed "high crimes" or "misdemeanors" (generally considered to be misfeasance in office). To that end I have several times replied arguing that there is no possibility of a crime or misfeasance, the last reply is available here .

I heard yesterday and earlier today that someone (a woman I think) is to testify in secret against Trump and Pompeo.

Key facts and latest news
• The State Department inspector general will brief congressional committee staff about unspecified documents on Wednesday.
• Secretary of State Mike Pompeo responded to House committees scheduling depositions from State Department officials, calling it an attempt to “bully” diplomats.
• House committee chairs warned Pompeo not to obstruct the impeachment inquiry.
• In a July phone call, President Trump urged the president of Ukraine to open an investigation targeting Joe Biden.
• Soon after the call, White House officials moved a record of the call to a highly classified computer system, severely restricting who could access it.

Nothing I can say to help you out with your anxiety, other than it is a state of mind, and it is possible for you to regulate it!

Have faith. This is war, the DEMs are fully invested, and they will come out swinging with what they have and what they make up.

The nation would be better off if half of the so-called institutions of higher learning were to shut their doors — starting with the Ivies.

You want a liberal arts education — pick up a book. Otherwise, trade schools should be the way to go.

Ok — thanks. That’s not “testimony.” The person isn’t even speaking to members of Congress. It’s their STAFF who are involved ... which means this isn’t even a formal hearing.

Thanks for the link back to your other comment on this subject. Within that thread, your other comment on statutory requirement for “other thing of value” is spot on why there is no crime here:

“This idea that “any thing of value” running toward the president’s campaign transforms his dealings into a crime, is facially unconstitutional, it is unconstitutional as applied to the president of the United States and it is unconstitutionally vague-no one knows what the hell “any thing” of value means.

If an expensive oil painting, or free week at the chalet on Lake Constance were involved, instead of $$$, a court would not throw it out for being vague. (BTW One could see the possibility of cigar smoking, sax playing Clinton accepting something like that.) But stretching this statute like the demokraps are attempting to do, yes, it would be vague and facially unconstitutional. I’d bet a big amount of $$$ that there would be nothing in the legislative history to support the demokraps current line of crap. There is also an argument for Separation of Powers, thus preventing Congress from controlling President’s from conducting such business of the Executive in such a manner. Else, they should be equally be subject to using their political offices for obstructing justice.

The demokraps cannot believe that Trump could have been doing anything on the phone but working on his campaign. At least that’s what they are publicly saying. The real story is his Crowdstrike comment by Trump, and his pursuit of the origins of the Russian hoax. He was not just bluffing when he/Barr said they were going to investigate the Russian hoax origins. It has been happening. For that the demokraps are fearful as to what might happen here ... and the impeachment is necessary to to cut him off at the pass.

HPSCI Press Release - September 27, 2019

The Chairmen also sent a separate letter today notifying Pompeo that the Committees have scheduled depositions for five State Department officials over the next two weeks:
