Looks like Austin Sarat, "Professor of Jurisprudence and Political Science, Amherst College," wants an ongoing civil conflict. Is he hoping for a revolution with the outcome of hard socialism? Just how many academics have gone that far over the edge?

I only excerpted that much, because the outrageous conclusion is at the bottom of the article and would otherwise be missed by many readers. Before the end of the article, the professor made arguments against disqualification.

It depends. Congress may, but doesn’t have to, declare a person ineligible to “hold any office of trust or profit under the United States.” It can be part of the penalty if the president or any other official is impeached and removed.

They chose not to do it when they impeached and convicted Judge Alcee Hastings, which is why he is now a Congressman.

If they were to include that disability in their removal of President Trump, then he could not be re-elected. But if not, then theoretically he could.

Out here, outside the metropolitan area, we have all those evil weapons of war that Beto warned you about, in the tens of millions, along with hunting rifles, pistols of all kinds, shotguns, rimfire weapons, knives, swords, machetes, and trillions of rounds of ammunition. Most of us get more range time than policemen and soldiers or at least have a passing knowledge of our weapons and marksmanship. Assuming the Senate invokes the clause barring future government service, he would be subject to the "fail to qualify" portion of the 20th amendment.

Well I think it depends on Attorney General Barr.. If Barr moves fast enough he will start indicting people before the Dems really get moving on their Impeachment Hearing.. Thus they might vote to impeach and then the Senate will not convict..

I think so. That's what happened with Alcee Hastings. He was impeached, convicted, and removed from the judiciary, but not barred from future office.

He subsequently ran for Congress and won.
