Tell the leaders of the birds which humans are ones responsible for foisting this crap on us and suggest they go full Alfred Hitchcock on them.
Its appalling. Another thing nobody ever mentions about the huge solar panels they put out in the desert is that they generate so much heat (how does this not contribute to global warming?) that birds flying over them literally catch fire.
Well, it ain’t my cat. My cat was really proud of himself when he brought home an empty bird next that had fallen out of a tree. Never seen him with an actual critter though.
We have 3 wind turbines on our farm and I have yet to find one dead bird near any of them!! If anything the loss of insect populations from GMO crops (no more corn root worm beetles) causes the lack of an easy to find and catch food source for young birds like pheasants and quail. Also there seems to be an abundance of raptors as well that could be praying on young birds.

Thats a HUGE number of chickens!
There is only one solution: NUCLEAR.
Boys, pull the rods, and let’er rip tator chip!
Really, we need to go ahead and invest in fast breeders using thorium. That would put us past several centuries of energy on tap from uranium, to millennia with U233 bred from thorium. U233 is also so damned hot, you can see it from space, so it is not like you can steal a couple hundred pounds and hope to get very far.
Everybody has nuclear weapons now, I don’t get the overwhelming fear of proliferation. If you think Iran does not, you are really are gullible, and that practically means a terrorist will get one sometime in the relatively near future.
With a solid nuclear backbone, we can synthesize our own hydrocarbons out of the CO2 if anyone is so concerned. Me, I’d rather have electric cars if we can nail down the battery tech to speed charging.
But I will take a Uranium nuclear future for now, as well. That we ever built a coal plant, a windmill or a solar cell after our first successful criticality experiment under Chicago stadium is utterly ridiculous.
Better than nuclear? You mean nuclear fission? Nuclear fusion that would be it.
Nuclear fission is actually much cleaner than coal, even if you factor in Fukushima and Chernobyl, and give them some multipliers to be on the safe side.
We are dumping uranium, radium, & radon in the air at a frightening pace from coal plants. Yes, you read that right, coal plants put out more radioactive waste than a nuclear plant, directly into the air and water.
Would take nuclear over fossil any day of the week...
Coal miners can start mining thorium and uranium.
If you listen to a wind turbine you hear a gentle whoosh then WHACK!! then whoosh then WHACK!! then whoosh.
Along with the subsonic woofer vibrations that make living near then stressful.
Regarding your ScienceDirect link on bird mortality, I posted a separate thread that includes a link to Rio’s bat mortality post:

I once noticed that I rarely see dead birds.
