> It’s like sending ‘advisers’ to Saigon. <

And advisers usually need to be protected with some sort of combat force (infantry, air cover, whatever). Maybe the Saudis can handle the protection part. But maybe not.

Saudi Arabia’s government was involved with 9/11. We should be bombing them, not defending them.

This is a very bad decisions, putting US forces as a shield for Saudi Arabia as it wages war on Yemen.

“It’s like sending ‘advisers’ to Saigon.”

Is absolutely is. The House of Saud is destined for the dust heap of history.

A smart superpower would offer the entire House refuge in the US, they can bring their money with them...in exchange for their lives.

Tell them we’ll manage and protect the oil assets from now on and give them 20% off the top. All employment opportunity will be given preference to whomever is left.

Then the US will own the asset.

I am going to take a swag pulled right out of my butt ... just laying it out there.

Saudi Arabia is happy to pay us for our protection. And, in fact they are. It's hidden in the weapons purchases which are probably marked up an extra x %. Probably they need us to operate the dang things, but they prepaid us and we're on retainer. Maybe that's why Trump so obnoxiously (personally i don't find it obnoxious) rattled off all the equipment they bought, and at what price, at that State dinner.

Now that does not excuse any use of our men as farmed out contractor mercenaries, but again I'm going to suspect it's ultimately in our security interest, and I'm not going to say I know that for sure. I get the argument that we should stay completely out of that sand pit but when the people who live in your city, and today the world is itself a city, are a bunch of violent mentally ill rabid fisher cats it's not empire building to have some police and pay for mental hospitals i.e. keep them in a somewhat controlled environment.

In the meantime, they House of Sows can tell their people "we are not paying the Americans for their defense, we are merely buying their weapons."

I suspect Trump is not giving them anything for free. He's a wikid cheap bastihd.

Feel free to rip me apart for that. On this subject I am relatively ig'nant and I admit to totally pulling that out of my intuitive butt so I put it forth as a 'maybe this' and not a 'hey all you against this you are stupid because I'm right and know exactly what's going on cuz I know everything and you suck.'

“Saudi Arabia’s government was involved with 9/11. “

Cite your source. That’s an asserted fact not in evidence.

Our missile defenses there do not work against drones or cruise missiles. They are being deployed as human shields.

Why? We have sold Saudi Arabia billions of dollars of military equipment, training, etc. They should defend themselves, not look to us to take care of them. Besides, they are not our friends, they fund and their citizens participate in terrorist attacks against the US.

They tried to apologize for this early in Tump’s administration. They have blood on their hands, American blood.

“Our missile defenses there do not work against drones or cruise missiles. “

Do you know the particular versions and systems being now deployed?

I am friends with a Patriot missile tech. He tells me that what we have there will not work against these drones & cruise missiles. I believe him.

If the attacks on Saudi Arabia were from rogue elements that benefit from a ME war, all they’ll have to do is hit our troops that are there for defense? And we’ll end up defending a country that shouldn’t even exist.

They can work against ballistic missiles, which is why the attackers used drones & cruise.

A SINGLE official implicates the entire government of Saudi Arabia?

How high was the official?

That’s a reach for such a broad based assertion.

And it confirms confirmation bias.

I wouldn’t think of doing that. You probably know much more about it than I do.

“He tells me that what we have there will not work against these drones & cruise missiles. I believe him.”

I do too.

The Patriot Battery is not designed to protect against anything under about 10,000 feet.

But we have several systems that are. Do you know those are not on their way?

I assure you that low-level defenses are on their way, or arriving now.

The Saudis produce 10% of the world’s oil. The US has an interest in seeing that continues. In fact, the Gulf States produce 20+% of the world’s oil.

Take that oil off the market and gas is over $6/gal in Houston. Our exports of everything are down 30% and our allies are nearly off the air.

Here’s where some “person” will tell me we need to address the political realities of the day and not realized how much they sound like a dem and/or a b.tch
Ah, the old "Anybody who disagrees with me is a communist fag!" strategy. Well played.

The truth is, a war in the gulf would be a disaster for the global economy, and Trump is doing his best to avert it. Not because he's an isolationist, but because it would be bad for the USA. But if war does break out, and oil exports are seriously impacted (you know, because 5 of the 10 largest oil exporters are there), it's a different ballgame.
