BOSTON (CBS) — Antonio Brown’s Patriots career is over after one game.

After a controversial day, the Patriots released the wide receiver from their roster.

“The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown,” Patriots spokesperson Stacey James said. “We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”

The news broke Friday, just moments after Brown shared some posts on social media that indicated something was about to take place. He posted a photo of himself and Tom Brady to his Instagram page, saying, “Love ya champ that was fun ! #GoWinIt #DoitforMe”

Didn’t OJ Simpson have AB on his fantasy team with Andrew Luck? The NFL should not be making that man angry...

Okay, Pats... who will you replace him with. I hope it is Obi Melifonwu, who was released by the Pats and signed him to the practice team... and for a lot of money, too.

Why reward obnoxious behavior (why he’s in his mess in the first place) when it ends up reflecting on the team - nothing in the Constitution makes a football career a right....

Which college signed humans supposedly educated him? I had never heard of him before this, so no idea where he went to college or played before the NFL. The college needs to revoke whatever diploma they gave him, then their athletic program needs to be scrutinized.

And this is the league that decided Tim Tebow wasn’t good enough for it.

Let’s see if the Patriots got dinged on some of Brown’s 9 mil signing bonus. It will be amusing if they have already sent AB 3-4-5 million of that.

This guy has problems but he was brought down by his gold digging “personal trainer”. Just one day after his lucrative signing with the Patriots was in the news, she came out and said, “I want some of that!”. “For services rendered!”

__________

Good point.

I remember (as a 70 year Steeler fan) Tim Tebow playing a great game and beating the Steelers in a playoff game a few years ago.

*****

"Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas ran for 80 yards for a touchdown to win the first ever non sudden death overtime game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the AFC playoffs Sunday Jan. 8, 2012 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High."

"Tebow Mania" was alive and officially turned him into a folk hero. (He was good!)

Tebow, for example, put eyes on the screen, put butts in the seats, sold lots of merch, and all without engaging in conduct detrimental to his teams and his league.

So what does the NFL do with as asset like that? They drum him outta the league.

Do you know why I found it so easy to give up the NFL? Cuz I can’t stand the vast majority of the guys playing the game these days, both on the field and on the sidelines.

I wanted to watch guys I could admire, root for or goodnaturedly root against, guys I could like, darnit, or at least respect.

Not this collection of degenerates, druggies, abusers, backstabbers, and primadonnas.

Fans need a new league.

My guess is that the Patriots signed Brown under the same circumstances they signed Randy Moss some years ago. Toe the line and make a lot of money. We haven’t invested a lot to get you, so screw up and you are gone.

One of them got the message. The other is now most likely unemployable in his chosen profession. Such is the state of professional sports in 2019.

I read that there is a clause in the signing bonus and contract that stipulates he has pre-advised the team of any pending, outstanding, or possible issues such as the two that arose and his failure to do so will serve as the means to void the signing bonus and just pay him a contract sum for one game and the days he practiced or was under contract.

Why they signed him is beyond me except that they have spent the last 20 years fawning over guys like this and turning the NFL into a trash can of entertainment.

You are either ignorant of what actually happened, or you should become friends with this scumbag because you share the same values. Pick one.

What "values" do I share with Antonio Brown? Belief in "innocent until proven guilty"? Dislike or lying golddiggers? Check, and check. Does that make him a nice guy? Hell no, he's a creep.

But I am also voting to re-elect a president who said not very nice things about skanky women. Is Trump a "scumbag" for that? I don't think so. AB's immaturity shouldn't cost him his career. It's ridiculous, as is the entire anti-male #MeToo movement.
