Yes, any “rational” Democrat could well think that Trump’s going to win, and they need a “sacrificial lamb” to run against him.

In that case, all of the current group would then hope NOT to be the nominee to be destroyed by Trump in the general election.

Hillary Clinton is done for. I believe she has used up most of her political IOU (in keeping herself out of jail). She is in no better shape (physically) than Biden.

And you don't have dig very deep to learn that most Democrats actually BLAME her for blowing it and making EEEEEEVIL Orange Man the President.

I cant imagine any of these candidates being taken seriously by all but total loons. However, there are plenty of loons, people who simply hate Trump and those easily swayed by promises of free stuff. Thus we should not be complacent.

Looking at the three current frontrunners I am shocked how weak they are. Biden looks like your old uncle who just isn't with it anymore and causes you to roll your eyes whenever he is at family gatherings. Bernie Sanders would have the the US become Venezuela and is promising more free stuff than Santa but with a price tag 4 times the national debt. Elizabeth Warren is as screaching and pandering as Hillary and will never bury her phony Indian persona.

The Democrats have also hitched themselves to issues that are not acceptable to the majority of voters. Promising open borders and to give illegals free medical care and college is a non starter. The Green New Deal is pure lunacy. Beto promising to take your guns got no push back from the other candidates. Infanticide abortions that all the candidates accept is not a mainstrean position. Other than promises to raise taxes and have government take over of healthcare and energy they offer nothing on the economy. Foreign policy and US security aren't even on their radar
