Coalition: Evidence indicates Iranian arms used in Saudi attack

RIYADH — The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said that preliminary investigations indicated that the weapons used in the attacks on two Saudi Aramco oil facilities are Iranian.

The Coalition spokesperson Col. Turki Al-Maliki said that an investigation into Saturday's strikes, which had been claimed by the Iran-aligned Houthi group, was still going on to determine the launch location. The drones used in the attack were of the Ababil make, a low-technology drone, the spokesperson added.

“The investigation is continuing and all indications are that weapons used in both attacks came from Iran,” Al-Maliki told reporters here, adding they were now probing “from where thbey were fired.”

"The preliminary results show that the weapons are Iranian and we are currently working to determine the location ... The terrorist attack did not originate from Yemen as the Houthi militia claimed," Al-Maliki added.

Al-Maliki said on Monday that the coalition has the ability to confront attacks, and defend vital oil facilities, and the results of the investigation would be made public to the media when complete.

Al-Maliki said the Gulf state was capable of protecting vital energy and economic sites. "This cowardly act largely targets the global economy and not Saudi Arabia."

Saturday's attacks hit Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Hijrat Khurais in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Maliki's comments come a day after US President Donald Trump said that the US knows who was behind the attacks and is “locked and loaded,” but is waiting for verification and for a Saudi assessment of responsibility before deciding how to proceed.

The scope and precision of drone attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities show they were launched from a west-northwest direction rather than from Yemen to the south, where Houthi rebels claimed responsibility, added senior US administration officials on Sunday.

US officials pointed to satellite imagery showing 19 points of impact on the oil facilities. The attacks on Saturday risk disruptions to the world’s oil supplies. — Agencies

It didn’t help Iran’s case that the drones had “Achmad’s Tehran Mart—Your Discount Leader” in Farsi on the salvaged parts.

"People, get your facts strait. "

Dang! Those facts sure do screw up the fun...

IAC, everyone already knows that the weapons were launched from Area 51 and contained rancid pig guts...

I don’t really doubt that the Iranians are behind this, but if the drones came from Iran, I wonder if we have any radar or photographic evidence other than the direction of the hits on the Saudi equipment.

It sure would be great to take out the radical nutjob Iranian leadership and bring an end to this nonsense.

Hi.

I just don’t know...

The mullahs in Persia invaded U.S. soil and took 54 US citizens hostage for 444 days in the Teheran embassy.

The mullahs in Persia carried out the bombing of the US Marines barracks in Beruit Lebanon killing over 250 Marines.

The mullahs in Persia kill US soldiers in Iraq. They shoot down drones in international airspace and commander foreign ships.

The mullahs in Persia want Israel wiped off the map.

I could go on and on...

Methinks they need a come to Jesus meeting.

Just sayin

Iran did this but would have never done this except they want a land war with Saudi and allies. The reason they want this is to get support internally from their people. The fact Iran did this is proof they leadership is in danger. Sanctions are working. Their leadership is is in danger thus the provocations.

A land war with us is a no no for Iran and politically for us also. We would roll over them and then suffer the consequence of the left wing media. If one boot is on the ground in Iran it must be a Saudi. Omani or UAE boot. Not our boots.

If you really want to stop this crap it would not be that difficult. When the Iranian National Parliament convenes you have most of their leaders there. Take it out! Also take out each and every leader of the Red Guard that we know the location of. Iran would then collapse into chaos. In fact it is very near to chaos today.

It may come to that, but for this SA can respond by doing similar damage to Iran facilities (With our help, of course. Seems they can’t do anything on their own. Their Yemen forces are almost all mercenary.)

Iran was counting on a lot more support frm China against US sanctions. Doing something like this that raises the price of oil shows me they’re not happy with that support.

SA’s use of ‘mercenary’ support, like many ME countries, doesn’t make them good allies. As you say, let their men die for them- not ours.

Iranian weapons. So what? When Saudi Arabia bombs Yemen with F16’s, I don’t feel responsible.
