The students were identified as Matthew Frazier and Matthew Rawlings, who are accused of calling the black student racial slurs before beating and kicking him.
TUCSON, Ariz. Police identified the two students accused of using racial slurs and beating a black student at the University of Arizona earlier this week as Matthew Frazier and Matthew Rawlings. Several dozen students at the University of Arizona on Friday protested campus police handling of a physical and racist attack on a black student this week. The protests took place less than an hour after the university announced that the two assailants, who are white, had been arrested and faced a misdemeanor count of assault.
The two had initially been directed to a social justice diversion training program instead of facing charges in the attack, according to the protesters. University of Arizona President Robert C. Robbins said in a statement Thursday that he was angered and disappointed by the incident. "We need to come together and let people know, without qualification, that intolerance and discrimination have no home here. Unless we have a safe environment, free from violence, discrimination and hate, students will not be free to learn and pursue their dreams," Robbins said.
A police report released by the university's police department said officers were called to the front of the Arbol de la Vida residence hall about 11:24 p.m. Tuesday on a report that people were fighting. The African American student told officers that two young white men called him the n-word and punched him in the head, the report says. The student suffered minor scrapes to his knuckles, right elbow and knee, according to the report. The report says the officers, after talking to witnesses, found the men, who are students, who they suspect attacked the black student.

1. Went through an interview for teaching school this summer and the Superintendent who interviewed me really liked my grasp of teaching concepts, knowledge and methodology. However, he had marked in his notes how many times I said "black" and "Mexican" while discussing language acquisition and ultimately called me to tell me he wouldn't be offering me the job (my wife had forbidden me to teach there before the call, so it was pointless).
2. The hypocrisy of the media is glaring in this article where conservatives are told not to use the world "black" and the journalist uses it not only in the headline, but in the body of the story WITH the word African-American used as well interchangably. Also, the perps are immediately identified as white.
These folks are nothing but hypocrites who will stop at NOTHING to get power and control.
Too bad the police aren’t as responsive when a group of feral blacks beats the snot out of a white person.
So true! What an upside down world we live in. Just this week I saw a gang of black hoods beating the hell out of a white guy in NJ. Not once mentioned the perps were black in the article.
And what exactly did the black kid say to the two white kids before the altercation?? I would bet my last nickel he called them honkies or crackers or something to that effect.
The two had initially been directed to a social justice diversion training program instead of facing charges in the attack,
Matthew Privilege.
Honky Cracker are terms of endearment as they freely supply love taps.
Very sad. I know a black student there who is dating a white student.
Meanwhile in Minnesota, a group of Somali’s surrounded a white man and beat him up and that is on VIDEO..not a peep about it in the commie press, they were too busy celebrating
That’s the one I was thinking about but there are also plenty others, going all the way back to the LA riots.
I would bet my last nickel he called them honkies or crackers or something to that effect.
I bet the two Matthews do not use that as a defense strategy at their trial(s).
Could I be any more priveledged?
I was thinking the same thing and then he pulled a knife or brass knucks.
You do not use the term black and Mexican in a job interview. It is offensive. No one would hire someone as a teacher who uses those terms in a job interview. How old are you? You are a son of a WWII Veteran and you don’t know this. It has nothing to do with journalists writings.
You are stepping on the wrong toes. You really need to stop. Now.

Awhile back, a bicyclist and a motorist got into a fight in a city near where I live. The motorist beat the bicyclist pretty badly. So the police are looking for the motorist.
The TV report I was watching described the motorist in great detail. They even described the glasses he was wearing! But there was no mention of the motorists race. I guess they just ran out of time.
The peoples have been brainwashed into what is acceptable and what is not.
And there are 15,000 variations in that. Or so it seems.
There are some that claim they are “offended” by what you may be thinking...
Racist Card - Ready for ANY occasion.

I know - I miss my old job consulting - able to sit in my cube and just mostly concentrate on developing the software.
There is work out there - here and there. But they’d have to sponsor a hotel for me - at least until I got a few paychecks under my belt.
