Liberty students protest in wake of reports about Falwell

Students at Liberty University in Virginia gathered Friday to protest in the wake of news reports containing allegations that school president Jerry Falwell Jr. improperly benefited from the institution and disparaged students in emails.

Students joined together at the private evangelical university known for being an influential hub in conservative politics and held up signs calling for accountability and an investigation.

Elizabeth Brooks, a junior majoring in politics and policy, told The Associated Press by phone that a recent Politico Magazine story as well as a Reuters report prompted the protest at the school in Lynchburg. She said about 35 students were involved.

"I couldn't stay silent anymore," the 20-year-old said. "I would like to see President Falwell address this himself and for there to be an investigation into the allegations to see whether or not they're true."

At least one student held a sign that read: "I TRUST JERRY."

Basically this is a hit piece on Jerry Falwell, Jr, because as it says near the end of the article he has been an early and very loyal supporter of President Trump.

Yep.

I hope President Falwell hits them hard in a lawsuit....

The Politico story contained allegations that Falwell “presides over a culture of self-dealing” at Liberty that has improperly benefited him and his family. The story cited unnamed sources described as current and former officials or Falwell associates.

Falwell told The AP on Tuesday that he wasn’t going to “dignify the lies that were reported” in the Politico piece, calling the reporter for the story a “little boy.”

Falwell said he would ask the FBI to investigate. He also said Liberty has hired “the meanest lawyer in New York,” whom he declined to identify, to pursue civil cases

What’s this “at least one” BS? There were only 35 students that gathered and the MSM couldn’t give us an accurate count of students with pro Falwell signs?
Furthermore, if the MSM is aware of what he did to take improper advantage of his position why is it not stipulated and evidence provided? Same with his supposed disparaging emails. Produce them.
But, no, all we have are accusations with a complete absence of any evidence against a vocal supporter of President Trump and one student who is demanding an investigation of accusations made with no evidence produced.
In other words, it appears to be a targeted political hit.

Yep.

I only posted it because it is ANOTHER example of the local news media’s continued anti-Trump bias.

And to give myself another reason to not watch/listen to WRAL again.

Boy Scouts destroyed. NFL Destroyed. US Military destroyed. NRA under serious attack, every church under attack.

Now they are going after conservative faith based schools.

...
actually 75,000, which still is huge...I had no idea, I would have guessed like 15,000, as it is private?

Liberty University and CBN University are two examples of Faith Based Christian Universities which are bright beacons of light in the very dark world of secondary education.

They won’t succeed in going after Liberty or after Dr. Jerry Falwell, Jr. or after Pat Robertson.

Little monsters! They do not belong in a good Christian school. Send them to Secular U., where they will be devoured.

“Brooks said student protesters were particularly upset about quotes of emails in the Reuters story posted Thursday in which Falwell allegedly referred to one student as “emotionally imbalanced and physically retarded.””

That’s an absolute lie.

Falwell must sue and he will win.

Back around 1979, the IRS audited Falwell’s ministry.

They found no wrong doing but asked them to change some accounting practices which they did.

I am so hoping he will sue = the article indicates he has a “mean” lawyer lined up to do just that.

Go, Jerry, Go!

I seem to remember that.

Liberty University is a first class university and the Falwell’s have been stellar leaders in the Christian education circles.

I have known of many young people who have attended Liberty and who received a terrific college education with a great Christian world view and underpinning for the rest of their lives.

Might be a mistake to get the FBI involved. They’re rumored to be as corrupt as the mob.
