The purchase of critical strips of private land has cleared the way, they argue, for a new phase. The plan, officials told reporters at a briefing this week, is to construct upwards of 450-500 miles by the end of next year — a massive undertaking representing nearly eight times what construction teams have erected to date.
"It's going up fast and we're putting it where the Border Patrol most wants it," Trump said in a video message Sunday. "We're taking money from all over because, as you know, the Democrats don't want us to build the wall — they're fighting us at every step."
The president has made recent gains in his immigration agenda. The administration announced new stats on Monday showing the number of border apprehensions in August was 64,006 — a plunge of 56 percent since May. While still historically high, administration officials said it shows diplomacy efforts with countries like Mexico is paying dividends.
Meanwhile, the administration has announced a formal “public charge” rule cracking down on immigrants who claim welfare, an overhaul to the Flores settlement that limits how long children and families can be kept in custody, and a rule that stops asylum seekers who have passed through other countries from claiming asylum in the U.S.

The public comment period is extended through 26 September for most of it, but five contracts have been awarded, which have not broken ground yet. It sounds like they are now ready to move out down there.

The next time a Democrat wins the presidency (and eventually there will be a next time) my fear is they will have a “tear down that wall” celebration.

Basically there is a trade off. Americans will get the wall and Democrats get to request amnesty for DACA .

That was deal offered early on by President Trump, but the Dems refused.
Now he is building the wall big time, without them. They will need new chips, if they want to buy DACA votes.
It would take a lot of money to tear down the bollards - they would need House and Senate to agree.
A few key holes could be cut open cheap enough though, the Border Patrol pulled back, and the cameras shut off.
If they pull back the Border Patrol and shut of the cameras first, they can have the cartels cut the holes. Then they can say “See, the Trump design was flawed.”
Our children, or certainly our grandchildren, will have to fight this fight all over again.

The Democrats don’t give a rip about Mexican border jumpers. Not really. They just want the issue so they can stir the pot with Hispanic voters who are already here.

That’s my conclusion as well, but you’ve got entire networks (Univision) dedicated to the concept that all Hispanics think alike. I say let ‘em think like that.
