“It is simply a money grab, that’s all it is,” said Senate Minority Leader Sen. Len Fasano (R-North Haven).

Like most things democrat.

Please try noting the location or at least the state where this is happening.

Otherwise, it’s just a useless post.

“I think our restaurants have been at a real disadvantage because people could go to grocery stores and buy the same thing you can get at a restaurant tax free at the grocery store.”

He seriously said this?

In public?

This sounded like the People's Republic of some New England state and, sure enough, it is. Connecticut.

I guess it never occurred to them that people on fixed incomes may buy a smaller salad mix because they only have a household of two. Or one.

Though, I'll bet, it probably did and they just don't care.

It said CT in the keywords.

The NE gulag states wonder why there is an exodus out of that poisoned part of the nation.

Just keep taxing em’ and you might get that 100% of green space you all wish for.

I would estimate 99.99999% of freepers do not look at keywords.

In addition, does it really take that much effort to mention the state in the original post?

Just a simple courtesy and a modicum of intelligence to alert readers of the location...or, as I stated, it truly is a useless post.

“Republicans say it was sold to the public as a simple one percent tax hike on restaurant meals.”

“That’s alright honey. We’ll stop going out as much. We’ll just stop by Wegman’s and hit the prepared food kiosks. It’ll be great!”

= = = = =

“Won’t get fooled again...”

Uh, yes you will.

Idiot governor. Grocery store food items are supposed to cost less (which means no tax) because they are not a luxury-non necessity which let’s face it meals prepared, served, cleaned up after by others are. Restaurant meals are taxed because they are no longer a commodity. I can’t say for sure but I imagine restaurants are tax exempt on their produce, meat, staples, and beverage and such purchased from their suppliers.

States should be making more goods sales tax exempt not increasing those subject to it.

No I agree with you, I did lose about 2 seconds out of my day scrolling back up to the topic/keywords up top (and I’m being sarcastic with you).

I think Connecticut has learned all the wrong lessons from its next door neighbor, Massachusetts (AKA “Taxachusetts). ;-)

But that’s politicians — especially Democrat politicians — for you. They have absolutely no ability to do anything but tax, and then spend. And where’s the fun in being a politician if you actually have to, like, stick to a budget and make hard policy choices and such?

He seriously said this?

Hard to believe, isn't it? No sense trying to save money dining at home when store-bought provisions are so expensive that restaurants can compete with them.

Hyperbole or bad statistic: 99.99999% would be 1 out 10,000,000 users.

Now it could be 99.99999% of all post views. In 20 years reading FR, I don’t recall EVER looking at the tags.

A few years back I did start ALWAYS looking at the source, and almost never read posts from NYT, CNN, WaPo, Huffington.

Thanks for this. This kind of thing happens a lot on FR and it is really frustrating.
