Greenpeace activists have suspended themselves from the Fred Hartman Bridge, effectively shutting down the Houston Ship Channel to ships trying to enter and leave the port:

HAPPENING NOW: We're in the heart of the fossil fuel industry (the largest oil export channel in the US) to confront Trump & the oil industry.

This is to get attention ahead of tonight’s Dem debate in Houston with they hope that the candidates will “promise to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable”:

As we hang here, the Democratic candidates are getting ready for the #DemDebates just a few hours from now here in Houston.

We challenge every candidate on stage tonight to promise to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable if they become president. #PeopleVsOil pic.twitter.com/k0Qwl0zWxl— Greenpeace USA (@greenpeaceusa) September 12, 2019

Too bad we won't get to see them bouncing off the bows of ships, but some decent people will risk their lives to get them back on the bridge.

Bolt cutters. I’d look the other way.

There was another article that mentioned this.

They should cut the ropes and let them fall into the water.

Don’t know why they are closing the ship channel. Doesn’t even look like they are close to being in the path of a ship.

Also, seems like the proper course of action is to send in a few Texas Rangers with machetes and cut the ropes hanging off the bridge - problem solved.

Let the ships continue on their way regardless.

All the different flavors of left-wing ideologues yet they are almost all mentally defective in the exact same way.

Why close it? They appear to be just a few feet below the bridge and nowhere near the height of a ship. Yeah, yeah, they could fall and kill themselves when hitting a ship, blah, blah. Arrest them now or body bag what’s left after bouncing off the deck.

Wait, first toss some bread crumbs their direction and let nature take its course.

This is Houston, Texas. These folks will likely have the book thrown at them and local juries will not be of a mind to cut them any slack.

Anchor the biggest, high sulfur bunker fuel burning tug, under the perps and rev the engine.

The constant harping on Trump - by Republicans! - to tone down his rhetoric makes me so mad. Trump actually goads the opposition into over-reacting and scaring off voters. He is a very stable genius!

Haul them up.

Remove their harnesses,

Tie the ropes around their necks.

Push them back off.

After they stop kicking, cut the ropes.

Drop all of these fossil fuel hating fags onto a deserted island and be done with them.

It’s basically what they’re asking for, isn’t it?

Hell, those little snowflakes just hanging there couldn't stop a ship.

They might get tousled a bit, but the ship would get through.

I hold the fossil fuel industry accountable! Accountable for the creation of efficient transportation, advancement of medical diagnostic equipment, and the overall betterment of humankind.

Accountable for what? For improving standards of living and life expectancy around the world? If one of these hypocrites starts living a life totally independent of fossil fuels, I might pay attention. Of course we'd never hear from them again.
