I have a CC permit in KY. However, they changed the law this year. You no longer need a permit. This matters for this reason: Now, if you CC in a private business that has a “no guns” sign, and they find out you have a gun, all they can do is kick you out. In the past, I believe you could lose your CC permit if you did that.

I used to play in bands in bars, and could not bring a gun in my case (they are all gun free). If I still did that, it would definitely be worth it to conceal carry a gun somehow.

The other advantage to having a permit for concealed carry in a constitutional carry state is that if there is conflicting Federal Law, such as no weapons within a thousand feet of a school etc. those laws often carry exceptions for licensed carry.

Additionally the reciprocity issues are helpful as well.
