President Trump on Tuesday endorsed Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) for his reelection bid in 2020, sending a message of support for one of his more outspoken Republican critics on Capitol Hill.
“Senator Ben Sasse has done a wonderful job representing the people of Nebraska. He is great with our Vets, the Military, and your very important Second Amendment. Strong on Crime and the Border, Ben has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Trump tweeted.
Sasse, who officially announced his reelection bid in August, has been one of the few GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill to criticize the White House and had previously floated a primary challenge against Trump next year.
The Nebraska Republican began hammering Trump during the 2016 campaign and has ripped him during his White House tenure for his “amoralistic” rhetoric as well as his trade and foreign policy decisions.
Trump has responded to the criticism, tweeting early in 2016 that “the great State of Nebraska can do much better than @BenSasse as your Senator.”

Sasse is not deserving of this endorsement.

I know he probably feels like he has to endorse current office holders of his party, but he’s making our part of draining the swamp harder by endorsing the Bush League Republicans we need to replace.
Sasse has been quiet as a mouse since the midterms. I wonder why? Ha ha.

Bad endorsement. Sasse is anti Trump and has clashed with fellow conservatives in the past. He was even censured around 2017.
A very apt quotation. Sasse may even grow to appreciate POTUS who held out his hand when he could have turned away.
Now this is beyond brilliant! Want to get a guy to shut his piehole? Endorse him! Even the DUmmies figured this out, and they’re pissed.
Interestingly, there hasn’t seem to been much noise from Sasse, lately. But, it’s Nebraska. I’m thinking that there are plenty that could get elected, but I’m sure the GOP in the state have let it be known that Sasse is their Golden Ticket in DC and others need not apply.

Sasse has one of the best voting records in the Senate.
What do you mean bad endorsement? It was basically a no-brainer. You want judges confirmed, don’t you? You’re not going to get it by bashing a red-state Senator who still supports 90% of your agenda. So what if Sasse hates the way Trump tweets or punches back?
President Trump is very clever.
