Trump says he fired national security advisor John Bolton
Bolton has a sharp edge to him and a big ego. He’s adamant about his positions, too.
And he doesn’t schmooze “Daddy” like Ivanka and her lib husband.
I know PTrump isn’t a war monger. Never has been.
Bolton is a hard core, no nonsense, win it and get out type guy in my book, in situations that are bleeding us in dribs and drabs.
Maybe it was Javanka who killed the Taliban meeting at Canp David. They would.

Bolton was not part of the negotiations with the Taliban, That was under Pompeo and led by a long time state department middle east diplomat; who actually has an Afghan background.
Trump announced the talks with the Taliban dead, after he said the talks were near to a meeting with them in Washington D.C. and that was followed by a Taliban attack in Kabul that killed Americans. To Trump that attack showed (finally) that the Taliban word could not be trusted and HE, Trump, ended the State Department’s negotiations with the Taliban. Bolton did not screw up the talks with the Taliban, the Taliban did.
But with respect to what Pompeo et all did not achieve with the Taliban, Bolton is in a “I told you so position”. THAT likely made things uncomfortable on Trump’s team.
Letting Taliban into a secure facility like Camp David is insanity. Unless the plan was to kick them out of the helicopter 5,000 feet over Camp David. Then it would have been a great plan.
In that part of the world ONLY force is respected. with the bomb them to smitherines group. The Taliban would talk turkey then.
I completely and fully agree with your post 28. We need to leave, and not care about what happens to that third-world hellhole when we pack up and leave.
Bring back every piece of equipment we can, then demolish the bases - leave nothing for the saracens to use.

Truth - no he can’t. I like Trump, very much, but he is not Solomon and the U.S. and its allies do not need another president infected with the presidential virus of trying to secure a diplomatic legacy, for their own sake, and in their own personal interest (like Obama), no matter how bad a deal is something they will call a success.
We can wear down the dictators in North Korea, the Mullahs in Tehran and the Taliban, over the long term, or we can bomb them into the stone age. But get meaningful compromises from them that protect our interests and goals and will not empower THEIR long term success are not possible. There will always be too much distance between the former and the later.
Living up to a campaign pledge is not synonymous with doing what is right. Reality has to intrude on the politics of things.
