Brexit was a last-gasp chance to stay free of a German takeover, with the EU as its vehicle. Maybe some outlying areas such as Wales can keep their independent streak (they did the last two takeovers). But England? If they don't do Brexit now, it'll be a Muslim country or part of a German/European Empire.

That great English king, Richard the Lionheart was born in Francem visited Englamd for only three months of his life and spoke no Englisch.
After that, the Norman batons invited the Fren h prince to come rule them instead of John but that failed.
Then in 1688 basically the Dutch invaded and the Dutch King William of Orange became the king of England.
Before that you had of course the Tudora who were Welsh, the Stuart’s who were Scottish.
And then in the 170ps you had the German takeover with the house of Hanover coming to power. George I spoke no English at all.
