As of July 7, 2018, there have been 2,372 U.S. military deaths in the War in Afghanistan. 1,856 of these deaths have been the result of hostile action. 20,320 American servicemembers have also been wounded in action during the war. In addition, there were 1,720 U.S. civilian contractor fatalities.

I hope carpet bombing is in the mix. To hell with collateral damage. (They were not interested in collateral damage on 911). Our soldiers should be there for “clean up” only.

Thousands of needless American soldiers dead and two trillion dollars spent for nothing.
Why would the United States want to single out one piece of territory and try to battle terrorists while there are many others that allow them to flourish, which is most of the Middle East.
No American soldier should ever have to set foot in that hellhole. We have air power.

I spent two years in Afghanistan.
There have not been that many US casualties sine 2018.
Maybe since 2008.
We averaged about 6.3 KIA per month for the first 7 years under Bush, and about 25 KIA per month for the first 5 years under Zero. Don’t know the later numbers, but it’s much lower as the numbers of troops in country is lower.

Drones and rockets don’t require many troops. A Taliban meeting here, a funeral there an occasional mosque thrown in for good measure and you have big time Taliban hurt on the cheap
