IIRC Schleswig-Holstein is north of Hamburg- the German Baltimore, but not that bad. Saarland is kinda nowheres-ville, east of Luxemborg. No known threat there ...

How stringent are the rules for owning a pistol? I imagine CCW is a non-starter in Germany. Especially for self-defense.
