Supermarket operator Albertsons Companies said on Saturday it would ask customers not to openly carry firearms at its stores, joining an array of retailers and store chains this week who changed their gun policy in light of several mass shootings in the United States.

As it's certain you would be on video doing this, I would suggest only loading non-perishables into the cart so stores don't come after you for the damages for melted ice cream etc..

That should keep the mass shooters out.

All that would do is piss off your employees.

Just withhold your money, Wal-Mart will see that in their bottom line which is what really counts.

Well, that’s inconvenient.

In my hometown there are two sources for groceries. Walmart and Albertsions. I never did much like the Albertsons, but I was going to try to shop there due to Walmart’s idiocy.

I guess the smaller Country Market in a nearby little town is going to get an even bigger boost.

I understand a store owner not wanting people to open carry and I can respect that.

However, it is the height of idiocy to request people to not carry concealed.

People who carry concealed help to protect us all, IMO.

Safeway and Alberstons are owned by Steve Feinberg, a Trump supporter.

I like the stores. Alberstsons is the only place I can find Vanilla Vodka, the only booze I like. Good prices too.

I read somewhere that The Donald and The Steve are friends.

If many people started doing it and letting the store know why and posting about it then it might do more than that.

I actualy agree with not open carrying a gun in public...a handgun or rifle should only be seen when hunting or when threatened....of course I do believe in conceal carry and think that any business should want its customers to be armed.

Some of us *cannot* carry concealed. For example, if you ride a motorcycle, your firearm needs to be on the *outside* of your armor, not the inside.

" it would ask customers not to openly carry firearms at its stores"

So, from that statement I gather that they are asking everyone to NOT open carry in their store, but if they do they can still shop there...

In western PA I've seen, several times, open carry in an Albertsons...

I’d love to see a major retailer advertise offering a 5% DISCOUNT for open carrying customers on the basis that their presence lowers the risk for mass shootings.

That's your choice but most customers will not change their buying habits one bit. With the dominant market share WalMart has and the lack of competition in many communities, they are pretty much immune to the threat of boycotts, which are almost never effective anyway.

Folks, open carry allows machine guns with belts of ammo to be brought in Walmart.

Is there any good reason for that to occur?

These stores are not stopping CCL.

And to think, thirty years ago Skaggs-Albertons used to sell GUNS in it’s grocery stores! I remember slobbering over guns I could not afford there!

Open carry is good for discouraging bad guys and acclimatizing people to not freak out about guns.

America would be a much better place if everyone open carried all the time.

It isn’t wise to try it in some places in some areas right now but it should be encouraged wherever possible.

"...a handgun or rifle should only be seen when hunting or when threatened....."

Could not disagree more... Absolutely illogical...

How about: "...an automobile should only be seen when parked in a garage or when rain threatens..."

OR: "... a moslem woman's face should only be seen in the her home or when on her knees in front of her husband when being threatened or abused..."

In Texas, they’ll have to post a valid Sect. 30.07 poster at their entrance to gain compliance. Otherwise, tough sh**. I can carry anywhere I want.

Might as well ban people from wearing pink bunny slippers in their stores. It would be just as relevant to this year’s mass shootings and just as effective in stopping them.
