Reminder to Liberals: The USA Is Not a Democracy

Semantic infiltration within the political realm is typically defined, in its various forms, as unknowingly adopting the terms used by an opponent in such a way as to undermines one's own argument.

With the help of their cronies in the mainstream media, leftists are exceptionally good at semantic infiltration. Take, for example, the words "illegal alien." The term is simple enough. When a citizen from a foreign country enters a country not of his origin, he is alien to that newly entered country because, by birth, he is not a citizen of it. When the individual has entered the new country in violation of that country's immigration laws, he can be properly termed an "illegal alien."

Throughout the late 1990s, in order to shift the emphasis away from the very real fact that Mexican nationals crossing the border into the United States were doing so illegally, the Left coined the disingenuous term "undocumented immigrants." The mainstream media, clearly understanding Nazi Germany's propaganda techniques used to influence public perception, began repeating the term "undocumented immigrant" relentlessly.

Long before the socialist and communist took over the DNC the. original so-called “progressives” were against what this country was founded to be. They wanted something more French in terms of government able to do whatever the hell they thought it should be doing ... none of this Limited Government Republic guff.

It doesn’t matter; liberals have only contempt for democracy anyway.

Since passage of the 17th Amendment, it is fair to say we are a democratic republic.

And the National Popular Vote Movement is doing far too well.

It is something which has been repeated so often, that people come to believe that we are a democracy.

Most of us here on Free Republic, know that we are a constitutional republic. The average person out there doesn’t know there is a difference between a “republic” and a “democracy”.

To talk of “undocumented” people, makes it sound as if they are “undocumented” because they lost their ID, and are waiting for their replacement driver’s license.

And this is what the left wants us to think. The left is changing the language so that we won’t think that “undocumented” people are here illegally.

Tucker Carlson always proclaims we are a democracy! I emailed him to remind him we are not a democracy but a Constitutional Republic, but a few days later he again proclaimed we are a democracy!

And the liberals also like to quote the poem at the Statue of Liberty, about giving us the poor tired and huddled masses, as if that poem is part of our immigration laws.

They mix and match quotes, take them out of context, or actually lie about things, as in the case of the Statue of Liberty poem, to push their political narrative. And they hope nobody notices what they are doing.

“Reminder to Liberals: The USA Is Not a Democracy...”

Lot of good that theory does us when it comes to voting on semi-auto and magazine bans among other things.

I forgot about that poem - libs forget it’s also about legal immigration - they confuse illegals with legal, no difference with them.

Liberals don’t think the US is a democracy. They think it’s fascist.

Well, you touch on an important point, namely, what situations are matters of constitutional rights, which are not subject to legislation, vs. what situations are to be decided by the legislative process.

I’m not saying I agree with the liberals , but I have heard many say, that “gun control”, such as licensing, or restricting certain types of weapons, do not violate the 2nd amendment.

Ultimately, it then becomes up to the courts to decide whether we are allowed to legislate on a subject or not, when disputes come up as to the meaning of the 2nd amendment, or any other laws or constitutional provision.

Our constitutional republic is far superior.

“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.” Benjamin Franklin, 1759

Democrats don’t care about democracy.

Democrats crave a brutally oppressive socialist state.

The poor/tired quote was a contest winner for a plaque to put on the statue by Emma Lazarus. Nothing from the founding fathers.

The United States is more than just the oft-quoted "representative republic." It is a federation of sovereign states.

This is an important distinction that is lost in the liberal "semantic infiltration."

At the state level, people are part of a representative republic where they vote for district assemblymen to their state legislature. They also vote directly for their governor, the executive of the state.

The United States was structured differently: the people voted directly for representatives in the House of Representatives, but the states (as sovereign governments) appointed what were effectively ambassadors to the Senate. The President, the executive of the federation of states, was selected by the states via the Electoral College made up on non-government citizens of each state.

Each state has the power over how to select their Electors to the Electoral College. It is the Electors as state delegations who choose the President.

It is wrong to simply state that the United States is a representative republic and leave it there. At the state level it is (see Article IV), but at the federal level it is more like a United Nations, with the President as Secretary General, the Senate as the Security Council, and the House as the general delegation. Each general member is its own sovereignty, and the Secretary General's purpose is to administer the negotiations between the member states. The Security Council there as a backstop against runaway actions by the members.

That's what the United States is at the federal level.

-PJ

I don’t know what the US is anymore. States Rights are supposed to prevail with anything that isn’t in the Constitution. Without that, out-of-control gov is inevitable.
