Your memory is not defective, they were attacking the car. However they were not attacking the person, and I can only guess the “I felt threatened” defense didn’t work, considering his life sentence and 419 years on top of that.
I’m not a lawyer, I’m just guessing that the law does not allow that. Perhaps the vehicle was considered a weapon?

Yup,screw her. The crowd surrounded the car as a violent mob. I don’t condone the action but in all of the videos of these,the car driver automatically is fight or flight mode as police stand down by orders of the Democrat government. History has shown that violent mobs will murder you as seen in L.A. The judicial decision was ALL politics and Charlotte is a myth in general with the “white nationalism/Nazi” BS. Give me one liberal who gives any sh*t about Kate Steinle or the woman from Minneapolis.We keep hearing about intent by the left in this new perverse way of law. Fact of the matter is: girl was morbidly obese and smoked. She put herself in harms way and paid a price. It’s been that way since the beginning of time. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
I refuse to garner sympathy for anyone getting hurt or dying due to their selfish desire to make a whole country think the way they do. She came for violence and found it. Period.
I have not seen the lawsuit, but here are two guesses: 1) The lawyer is a SJW working on contingency, and is involved as an act of self-promotion. 2) There are additional defendants that the plaintiff hopes can be blackmailed into “settling” to avoid negative publicity. Fields’ car insurance company? “Right-wing” organizers and promoters of the protest?
The City, Terry MacAuliffe, and the State Police all had a hand in creating the circumstances that led to the death and injuries, but somehow I doubt this plaintiff is going to argue that.

Smoking and obesity had nothing to do with blunt force trauma by a car that led to her death. You don’t have to be sympathetic to anything you don’t want to, but basic human respect for the dead would be nice.
She expressed no violence as far as I can tell - why do you think she came looking for that?

No one was stealing, raping or crushing a skull when Heather was run over. Don’t be daft, please, it’s unbecoming.
