The Countries Polluting The Oceans The Most (Asian countries top the list)
Statista ^ | April 15, 2019 | Niall McCarthy

A team of researchers in the United States and Australia led by Jenna Jambeck, an environmental engineer at the University of Georgia, analyzed plastic waste levels in the world's oceans. They found that China and Indonesia are the top sources of plastic bottles, bags and other rubbish clogging up global sea lanes. Together, both nations account for more than a third of plastic detritus in global waters, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

We have one-thirtieth of the waste of China, but we are the ones who have to give up plastic straws.

(And by the way, that has to be the most annoying GIF I've seen recently. Just the last frame would have given all the information needed without the continuous redrawing of the image.)

Don’t we ship much of our plastic waste to Asia for recycling?

They may just dump our carefully organized plastic into the ocean.

Mark Steyn discussed this while subbing on a Rush show in the last week or so.

Interesting stuff--and of course worth sharing with non-political folks who have no idea how much we are lied to by the politicians and media.

I have had interesting reactions since I have shared this info with both non-political types _and_ liberals.

Most folks get it--politicians will say anything to fool people and make themselves look good (virtue signaling).

Even most liberals can _get_ this one--it is that straightforward.

Then you close the deal: "If they are lying to us about _this_ what else are they lying to us about...?"

Why doesn’t that Greta girl from Sweden, sail her sailboat over to China, and go lecture the communist Chinese about global warming?

Why doesn’t she go to Beijing, and lecture them about the perpetual smog hanging over the city?

The best solution to a clean environment is economic prosperity.

Fact.

Simple answer - our airwaves, stream of thought and consciousness, and what we believe to be true are chock full of lies - intentional and unintentional.

On top of this, we all react to information with our own expectation biases and preconceived ideas. This colors incoming data to the point that what we perceive to be “truth” is in fact many shades of gray.

In other words, there are the lies imposed upon us by others and the lies we impose upon ourselves. We are very good at recognizing the lies of others who we do not agree with (fake news) and very bad at recognizing the lies we impose upon ourselves or by those we agree with (bias).

It is an interesting study perfectly illustrated every day in all kinds of media to include FR. It is made far worse by the lack of a scientific process where limited or selective data is used to form the final hypothesis to fit a desired outcome and data revealed later is largely ignored or discounted in the 24 hour news cycle.

That’s rapidly becoming HISTORY. In fact, in large measure, it is already history. Much of the product being put out on American streets to be “recycled” is already ending up in landfills.

Every American must give up plastic drinking straws.

China’s pollution is nothing - nothing - compared to American’s plastic drinking straws... At least that’s what silly brain-dead liberals tell us.
