President Donald J. Trump nominated twelve new federal judges Wednesday, including a new federal district judge in Hartford and a new state judge for the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals in New York.

Trump chose William J. Nardini, 50, a senior assistant U.S. Attorney in New Haven for a seat as one of two Connecticut jurists on the influential, Manhattan-based circuit court that takes appeals from Connecticut, New York and Vermont.

Nardini, if his nomination is approved by the U.S. senate, will replace retiring circuit court Judge Christopher Droney, who disclosed earlier this week that he is taking a position with a Hartford law firm.

The president selected Barbara Bailey Jongbloed to the U.S. District Court. Jongbloed is a state Superior Court Judge and a former assistant U.S. Attorney. If confirmed, she will replace U.S. District Judge Alvin Thompson, who is assuming a semi-retired role as a senior judge.

Knowing what a RAT-infested state that CT is, I’m hoping that any nominees from the state get a microscopic examination...

Barbara Bailey Jongbloed is apparently a registered Democrat.

"Barbara Bailey Jongbloed is apparently a registered Democrat"

If this is shown to be the case: "Good grief! What the hell is going on?"

I was just worried that a RINO (from a state where the GOP is dominated by RINOs) would slip through...

Sorry to say I’m too lazy to look it up tonight, but any idea, cotton, if any of these picks are Federalist Society members?

“Barbara Bailey Jongbloed is apparently a registered Democrat.”

Maybe enough conservative Republicans will join the “I’ll never support a Trump judicial nominee” Dims to sink this nomination.

"Also nominated to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California is Rick Richmond, a partner at the Los Angeles office of the firm Jenner & Block. A member of the advisory board of the conservative Federalist Society, Richmond previously was a partner at the firm Kirkland and Ellis and spent time at the Justice Department."

Cory T. Wilson was in the Federalist Society at Yale.
