Self-defense items, including brass knuckles and hard plastic kitty keychains, will be legal for Texans to carry starting September 1.

House Bill 446, which overturns the ban on brass knuckles, self-defense keychains, and clubs, was signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in May. It passed unanimously in both the House and the Senate.

It removed "knuckles" and "clubs" from a group of weapons banned by a previous law that was passed in 1918.

I always had a blackjack on me back in the day.

Don’t know if it was legal or not in NYC.

I didn’t ask so they didn’t tell.

Antifa would have carried them anyway. This just evens the odds both sides may have them?

Since we have both open and concealed carry, why does it matter?

If some Antifa idiot wants to come at me with a bat, or whatever, they better think twice before I remind them about the adage of not bringing a knife to a gunfight.

I somehow wound up on the mailing list for this whacko catalog. One of the items in there was a “Souvenir Brass Paperweight” which just happens to be in the same shape, size and weight as a set of brass knuckles.

They probably have a Souvenir Bumpstock Paperweight too.

Yikes! I need one of those. I do have a tactical baton that I keep in the car....and sometimes in my purse.

Pinging the Texas list.

Keys portruding between your fist fingers like Lady Liberty’s crown would do a number.

Decades ago I ran into this old timer up in Queens (NYC) who told me that he used to carry a snub nose in a lunch bag. That why he could put in a trash can if needed and no one would be the wiser.

I have done that, but it’s kind of awkward at times with keys being different lengths. Hope I never have to use them to find out. LOL!

Screw the knuckles..that’s way too close. Older folks and woman should train and qualify for their CHL.
