Agreed.
Here that talk but it’s just not true.
New Jersey is a tough state.
A Trumpian candidate probably can’t win.
You gotta run up the score in Essex, Union, Hudson counties.
You gotta appeal in Bergen County.
That’s what Christie did in 2009 and 2013.
Either stand up for what’s right or don’t bother. There’s a reason why NJ hasn’t elected a GOP Senator since 1972, because it doesn’t work trying to get to the left of a Demonrat.
And how is that working for you ? You keep running your left-wingers as “Republicans” and the Demonrats will keep cleaning up on Election Day. Tripling and quadrupling down on failure doesn’t win.
I had an environmental case in Old Bridge. Looked like a nice little town. Sorry it is run by leftist nuts.
But you’re wrong. Hubin ran a pro Trump campaign and lost not running to the left of cRooked Menendez.
Whut ? Hugin didn’t run as a pro-Trumper, he ran against him. He couldn’t get far enough away from him !
Nope. I interviewed him. Hugin tried to be a bit independent but supported the President’s general policy and was getting attacked relentlessly even without having his endorsement.
He did not run away from President Trump. He tried to stay on message with his issues but it still took him out.
Because politicians have never been known to SAY something in an interview and DO something different while on the campaign trail.
Your recollection of the race doesn’t jibe with what happened...
I covered the campaign and know the campaign. They tried to keep President Trump at arm’s length and received no endorsement. It didn’t matter. He was tagged as being Trump and it wasn’t close.
When Hugin spending tens of millions got in range of that crook Menendez, the Menendez campaign whipped out the Trump card and began running against Trump. It was sadly, effective.
In New Jersey, every four to six years, we hear that lame admonition that Republicans need to be more principled and stand more right of center. Then they lose, rinse, repeat.
It may be worse now but it still phocking sucked in your grandparents day.
I can’t imagine what is wrong with anyone decent who still claims membership, other than naked desire to get elected in a democrat area.
Bump
A ficus plant could get within close range running as an “R.” Hugin was a rotten, wishy-washy RINO who predictably crashed and burned. We could see that from miles away. Keeping running these phonies, and it’s the same predictable occurrence. Maybe if you guys actually stopped nominating these squish losers, you might get somewhere for a change.
It’s hard to have much hope for a state party who lets the likes of Drumthwacket Dorks Tom “Lame” Kean, Sr., Christine Toad Whitless, Donnie DiFrancesco and Tub O’Guts run the show when real stars like Bret Schundler get deliberately curbstomped by the party elites. I think these RINOs are quite happy to let their Communist Demonrat buddies run the state. Is it any wonder they hate Trump more than they do imbeciles like Phil ‘Corslime Part Deux’ Murphy ?
Same old whining heard for years in NJ. When was the last time NJ elected a Republican Senator?
Go raise $30 million and run your candidate and see if you can break 33%.
Bret Schundler couldn’t break even 33%. I’ve seen him personally kissing the ass of a Democrat vote fraudster. Was not impressed.
1972 was the last time, and with one of the most left-wing members of the Senate, Clifford Case. Not exactly a stellar achievement.
What’s your alternative ? You want to run a RINO like Hugin ? You lose. You claim a Conservative can’t win, either. So you want to keep on electing Democrats instead ? Because between you and Puffball, that’s all I can see happening here.
Bret Schundler couldnt break even 33% ? I had to look up what you were talking about. Despite having to carry the immense baggage of the Whitless-DiFrancesco elite RINO losers and being mercilessly battered in the 2001 GOP Guv primary, he still got 57% over preferred Establishment RINO Bob Franks and did a respectable 42% against the pervert McGreevey. As for the 33%, you’re talking about the 2005 GOP primary which he lost to RINO Doug Forrester (who, BTW, got all of 36% in that same primary). Your vaunted Dougie got all of 42.8% against Corslime, virtually the exact same percentage you criticized Schundler for.
>I think these RINOs are quite happy to let their Communist Demonrat buddies run the state.<
Paging Bill Weld! Bill Weld, please pick up a white courtesy phone.
Hugin wasn’t a RINO, he was trying his best and I didn’t agree with him on everything but he was a vast improvement over Menendez and having spoken to him a bit, he would have been light years better.
Joisey sucks and there’s not much to be said when a candidate like Hugin couldn’t get any fair shake in the Soprano State.
Hugin would have voted for a lot of good in the Senate but that didn’t happen. I don’t have any hopes for salvation when they turn out the HudCo and inner city votes for corruption.
As for me, I view the donkey with the same level of contempt and outright hatred as I do the swastika, hammer and sickle and the burning Cross.
Weld was never a Republican, just a Demonrat Derp Stater.
