DONALD TRUMP SAYS HE WANTS TO MAKE IRAN AND NORTH KOREA RICH {Down with Mullahs}
Newsweek ^ | 26 August 2019 | Tom Connor

Posted on 08/27/2019 2:02:19 AM PDT by Cronos

Pesident Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran and North Korea have "tremendous potential" he hoped to help them achieve should they reach deals with the United States.

Trump made the remarks Monday at the G7 summit in the French city of Biarritz, where he was joined by fellow leaders from Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and elsewhere. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif too arrived in the city for separate consultations with France that were apparently welcomed by Trump.

"I'm looking to have a really good Iran, really strong, we're not looking for a regime change, you've seen how that works over the last 20 years, that hasn't been too good, we're looking to make Iran rich again. Let them be rich, let them do well, if they want, or they can be poor as can be," Trump said as he spoke alongside his Egyptian counterpart.

The president made similar remarks at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, saying he had "very good feelings" about a potential deal with Iran. Trump added: "It's a country with tremendous potential, I also say that, by the way, about North Korea." ... "North Korea has tremendous economic potential and I think that Kim Jong Un sees that, he would be the leader and I think that he sees the tremendous potential that its got."

"With respect to Iran, same thing. Iran has incredible people, an incredible country potentially, location that's a little rough neighborhood, but eventually, it's going to be a beautiful neighborhood, I think it's going to work out," Trump said.

President Trump is smart - the US economic pressure can bring down the Ayatollah and Kim regimes with ZERO American blood lost.

This is a smart, smart man as President

Iran’s people hate the Ayatollahs but haven’t been able to bring them down.

If the USA attacked, then the Ayatollahs would ride the wave of nationalism to stay in power

Instead - if Trump succeeds in showing these people “look at the riches and good life waiting for you, just chuck out the Ayatollahs” — and this will appeal also to the military etc.

If those people will take his outstretched hand, he can lead them all to the ‘Promised Land’. After all, what else would a chosen one do???

WAY TO GO, Mr. President!

Exactly. This is the way to bring down the regimes without firing a single shot.

Wow are the glasses rose colored around here :)

NK is nowhere and just tested another rocket.

Iran tried and failed to attack Israel with drones. But they still tried and will continue.

I see NO loosening no the grip of its people or its policy in EITHER country.

Just a lot of patting on the back for results that haven’t happened yet.

I hope very much that they come to fruition.

However, if a dem president had spoken about not wanting regime change in these two countries, we would be spewing outrage.

Just sayin...

“Exactly. This is the way to bring down the regimes without firing a single shot.”

With respect, how would we know that? I can’t think of a single example in all of history of an Islamic state being overthrown by it’s own people, or changed peacefully by an outside force. I also see no evidence that the Iranian people in general don’t absolutely love the dog turd country they live in. Sure, ‘some’ of the people don’t like it, there’s always reports of protests here and there throughout the years, but that doesn’t equal anything close to a revolution.

I know it’s how Trump talks about everybody, but I disagree that ‘Iran has wonderful people’. No, no they don’t Mr. President. I don’t think Muslims are anything you can call wonderful people. I don’t call people who want me dead for not believing in Allah wonderful. The moral relativism is tiresome.

I can’t name any examples, but we’ve never had a POTUS of this magnitude of BRILLIANT before. Also, Iran is ripe for a peaceful revolution. I’ve been following for years and they’ve had crushing strikes initiated by their own people to bring down the mullahs. The strikes are simply “Non-Participation” events, where no one shows up for work and shuts down the nation. It’s amazing to read and there are many Iranian tweeters posting frequent reports on this.

Pretty good tactic. Get rid of your current corrupt leaders and you to can prosper. Plus you won’t be invading our border.

I recall Egypt was able to take its country back from the Muslim Brotherhood, after they toppled Mubarak.

That’s kind of spurious isn’t it? Is Egypt a safe place to visit for Christians and Jews? Is there an absence of Islamic law there?

Good idea. Rich, content populations are hard to mobilize for stupid things like jihads and wars.

The moment a McDonald's opens in downtown Pyongyang it's all over for Kim Jung Fat Boy. He knows it and Trump knows it. Among the many lies North Koreans are told about the little turd is that he invented the hamburger or as North Koreans call it "Double Bread Sandwich With Meat''.

DJT is the man who can do it too.

I fear our domestic lunatics much more than Iran or N Korea.

The Mullahs and Kim are already rich. The only thing they care about is power and how they’re going to hang on to it. If Trump thinks they care at all about standard of living of the people under their rule then he’s badly mistaken.

The American alphabet media news organizations is the biggest and most dangerous enemy we face. Each day they indoctrinate legions of zombie robots. While Governments of Iran and North Korea may not like us and say mean things about us from time to time, they are separated from us by wide deep oceans. The alphabet media news organizations are in the homes of 99 and 99/100 % of American households nightly. Indoctrinating for all they are worth.

This is a misleading (lying) header. Trump did not say, anywhere within the article he wanted to make anyone rich. His only comment toward worth was that each of the countries he mentioned, North Korea and Iran, had potential.

Potential to do what? To get rich is a stretched assumption of Newsweek. Trump doing it is a flat lie. Assisting a country to become more self sufficient doesn’t mean rich. So Newsweek is playing with words to attack Trump and they have alleviated themselves of the facts of the concern thus misleading the readers on purpose. In the old days, we called that a “flat lie.”

Bottom line: Persians come from an ancient civilization, they are not barbarian Arabs. Islam has been a disaster for them, a disaster that has lasted centuries.

I see Iranians as somewhat analogous to the peoples enslaved under communism. The strikes and protests are well-documented, even if the Western communist media tried to hush them up. There may be a segment of the Iranian population eager to kill for Allah, but the majority wants a decent life.

I’m not saying regime change is going to be anything other than tough. But unlike others posting on this thread, I try to avoid defeatism.

Iran is not a dog-turd country — the regime definitely is.

Iran has over 4000 years of history - this is the land of Cyrus the Great who freed the Jews; this is the only land in the Middle East besides Israel and Syria that allows Christians and Jews to freely practice their religion and indeed keeps seats reserved for them in parliament, this is a flawed, very flawed democracy, but far more than every other Middle Eastern state.

The Ayatollahs are bad, no doubt, but not Iran - Iran has potential once it throws off the yoke of Islam. And that day will come

You’re kind of all over the place here. The Iranians of today certainly hold no kinship back to 2000 BC. Even in the 3rd century BC the Persians were driven to enslave the Greeks or kill every last one of them, even without the motivating force of Islam.

Iran is no place for westerners, and I won’t get weak-kneed romanticizing the fertile crescent. Iran sponsers terrorist groups to murder Americans. Today it is a craphole desert with a ton of oil.
