That said, the Japanese are likely buying the corn for animal feed. Corn *is* liked as a food by the Japanese, HFCS isn’t so much of a thing for them - but the major Japanese use of corn is to feed their livestock: https://www.world-grain.com/articles/9613-japan-corn-imports-to-remain-high

Here too. There is a difference in field corn used as feed, and sweet corn intended for humans.

That said though my brother-in-law is a wannabe hill billy. He thinks it's southern, (hence - COOL,) to eat field corn.

Look, using Japan as an intermediary for US corn is f'ing brilliant. Whether they pass it through unprocessed or processed, it is a masterstroke that tells China, 'if we can get Japan to do this, then the UK (foodstuffs+ethanol), then OZ, then EU, then BRIC, then the Phillipines..."

Corn stores. Keep Iowa happy, you keep the Corn Belt happy, and then you can focus campaign money on WI, MI, PA.
