Stand Your Ground is alive and well in California. A CA criminal defense attorney has successfully defended another client faced with charges for self defense with a firearm.

This case involves a woman who used her side arm to protect herself from robbers intent on running her down. She was charged by the DA, the robbers walked. After a vigorous defense the jury acquitted her in 40 minutes.

Shoulda blasted through the windshield.
If I was going to get in trouble with the law regardless (it IS Kalifornia), might as well make it worth it.

I hear Polycase Inceptors are good for penetrating windshields.

Did she have to offer a public apology to the robbers?

DA Diana Becton, a raving Cali loony liberal. In her own words:

When I was sworn in, I made a promise to do things differently. It’s a new day in Contra Costa, and I am just getting started.

She sure is, making the county safe for perps and thieves.

The woman she persecuted, er, prosecuted, is an Army Reserve NCO and nine year veteran, a single mom who is going to college with a goal of law school. This DA nearly wrecked the woman's life by letting the theives go and prosecuting the security guard. Yep, it's a "new day" in Contra Costa.

Black female DA - they just can’t help themselves, can they? They are programmed to be in your face obnoxious and given a position of power, abuse it.

The DAs like these are connected politically or financially to such gangsterism. It is obvious. Time to bring civil rights and rico charges.

“Following the verdict, the Contra Costa County District Attorney put out a brief statement saying the shooting was “over disputed lemons and crab meat.””

This is a CRITICAL STATEMENT. DA’s have the right and the authority to determine who gets charged and who doesn’t. If you live in a Blue State and/or a Blue County, BE CAREFUL, as there may well be one of these DA’s that you wind up having to (very expensively) battle in court. Obviously I’m thankful she was cleared, but, as I’m assured everything else here agrees, she knows how to handle hardware and no one, not even the criminals, were in danger.

A REASONABLE DA wouldn’t have charged her. A reasonable, but Leftist, DA would have issued a statement such as the following: “While I disagree with the verdict of the jury, we respect that verdict”. This guy is a FLAMING LEFTIST (and by the way, crab meat isn’t cheap, and it is low-carb). These are very dangerous people and anyone who owns a gun needs to do all they can to stay clear of them...and one way is by choosing where you live (to the extent possible).

wonder if the ahole DA put out warrants for the arrest of her “witnesses” (i.e. the crooks) because they failed to answer the subpeonas as witnesses in the case?

Probably not. She sounds like a total fuck-up, anti-military, and pro-criminal.

I don’t appreciate your language. Do you not remember the rules when you signed onto FR? You sound like a demon-rat who can’t speak without vulgarity and profanity.

Boston Illegal: DA to stop prosecuting people for quality of life crimes in pursuit of 'fairness' 4/2/2019, 4:37:03 PM · by SleeperCatcher · 49 replies

The National Sentinel ^ | 4/2/19 | Vicki Batts Leftist policies are reaching new levels of insanity in Massachusetts, as Suffolk County DA Rachael Rollins pushes her highly contested “no-prosecute” list into action. The “list” gives a green light to a number of arrest-worthy offenses — including trespassing, shoplifting, disorderly conduct, and “wanton or malicious destruction of property.” In other words, local law enforcement is being directed by the district attorney to stand idly by while miscreants steal and destroy property. The directive from Rollins also orders police to refuse to cooperate with ICE in the arresting of illegal immigrants at the courthouse — no matter the severity

Charges To Be Declined

Charges for which the Default is to Decline Prosecuting (unless supervisor permission is obtained).

Instead of prosecuting, these cases should be (1) outright dismissed prior to arraignment or (2) where appropriate, diverted and treated as a civil infraction for which community service is satisfactory, restitution is satisfactory or engagement with appropriate community-based no-cost programming, job training or schooling is satisfactory. In the exceptional circumstances where prosecution of one of these charges is warranted, the line DA must first seek permission from his or her supervisor. If necessary, arraignment will be continued to allow for consultation with supervisor. Thus, there will be an avenue for prosecuting these misdemeanors when necessary but it will be appropriately overseen by experienced prosecutors.

Note: this is essentially already happening for drug possession cases in Roxbury and Dorchester District Court. - https://rollins4da.com/policy/charges-to-be-declined/
