There is no middle-ground. There is no compromise.

Any markers around MLK statues for him being a rapist, plagiarizer and womanizer while married?

He raises a good question. What does, “counter the notion of white supremacy”?

I remember thinking it was unusual to see the photos of Veterans of both sides attending reunions at battlefields decades ago. It seemed such a “bit of Americana” that these people could forget the horror so easily and come together after the decades had diminished the hatred. I remember reading that the reason these Confederate Statues were erected was to help move this “process of healing” along. So much that when we were kids in the 50s Blue/Grey was a kid’s game more than anything else, like “Cowboys and Indians”. It took a hundred years to get to that point and now for blatant political advantage the libtards have destroyed that “Century of Healing”. Good job, libtards.

Why must the signs “counter the notion of white supremacy”? Let another culture stand up and make a better society and the idea of white supremacy will go away by itself. Start by pulling your pants up.

Can’t they just STFU for 5 seconds and let the rest of us breathe?

There’s no satisfying the left, especially when they have identified a public enemy (in this case, white people) and targeted it for destruction. The Civil War was not fought over “white supremacy.”

That said, when you read the article and look at the texts of the signs, they actually do go into discussions of “white supremacy,” Jim Crow laws, all sorts of past wrongs, etc. I honestly can’t imagine what more the writers could have said on the subject.

I was stunned to learn that Booker T. Washington is now considered unacceptable to black leftists because he urged the newly-emancipated black population to seek education and economic development. Apparently mentioning him in these markers was a sign of not being sufficiently loyal to the cause.

It was, however, thoroughly confusing to read one of the writers defending herself and Washington by pointing out a speech in which Washington urged black people not to seek to integrate with whites but to remain separate. So I guess that’s the new leftist goal: resegregation. Of course, segregating groups probably does make them easier for the Democrats to control.

Some people have truly have gone full snowflake.

With perhaps a handful of exceptions, none of these monuments were erected to celebrate “white supremacy”. They were put up to memorialize men and deeds in a trying time of American history. Many were placed by veterans themselves to mark the locations of their historic actions and to memorialize themselves and the numerous comrades killed or scarred in America’s bloodiest war.

Significant numbers of these monuments were erected around the turn of the century when Civil War veterans were dying off in large numbers and the states and nation as a whole were eager to memorialize the deeds of that era’s “greatest generation”. Those erected in the early 1960’s were because of the Civil War Centennial, not because of the Civil Rights struggle as some mathematically challenged liberals tend to claim.

A bit of a tangent, but related. So I was watching Avengers End Game and there is a scene where Thanos says:

In all my years of conquest, violence, slaughter, it was never personal. But I'll tell you now, what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet... I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much.

You could not live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive, but you've shown me... that's impossible. As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist."

"I'm thankful...because now...I know what I must do. I will shred this universe down to its last atom and then, with the stones you've collected for me, create a new one teeming with life that knows not what it has lost but only what it has been given. A grateful universe."

"Born out of blood."

"They'll never know it. Because you won't be alive to tell them.

And it struck me that this is the liberal objective. To do away with all memory of how great this country is so that when they turn it into the $h!+hole they so aspire to, no one will know that there is another way.

The "markers" at these monument are just another way of erasing the past to make way for a horrible future.
